Is there a problem with protesting against what has been going on there? I call it free speech, and if some are doing wrong in the protesting group, that's a separate issue involving them only. If a business takes off, they have the option to devote themselves to it full time or stay on at the university with an honorific title and few responsibilities because their name now brings extra glamour.
In my industry, you start being very suspect as you approach 50 and very few are kept around past 60 unless they are senior management. I have zero debt and plentiful savings and will be OK no matter what, but it's still an ugly feeling to be in a situation like that.
