Hello,
I want to ask you about the best oil for the Mercedes 3.0 V6 218HP engine with the designation OM 642.
It was installed in Jeep Grand Cherokee WK 2006 cars.
The manufacturer recommends 5W30 viscosity grade 229.31, 229.52 oil for this engine.
What kind of oil you is the best?Is it worth pouring 5W40, e.g. Amsoilm 5W40 DEO or Turbo Truck or is 5W30 better?
What's your experience with this engine?

Which one of those oils has the approval that you need?

I ran a C3 5-40 oil in mine. I switched to Mobil 1 esp 5-30 and it started using oil. With 5-40 no oil use. I ran Mobil 1 and Valvoline.

The Mobil 1 was esp and the Valvoline was a mid saps 5-40. They discontinued it or changed the name. There was quite a bit of discussion on here about the Valvoline. I eventually started using CJ and CK oils due to expense and availability. Never suffered any exhaust issues. It was an 08, the last year without the adblue system.

If it doesn't have a DPF / adblue, then just use whatever Xw30 / Xw40 fits your budget. 10w30 or 15w40 CK4 HDEO will work just fine on that engine. Or a Euro ACEA A5/B5 type 5w30 or 5w40.
