What...no Amsoil in the tests? I feel gipped.

And the managers stand up and clap while the engineers realize this shows less than 1% difference between the highest and lowest oil.

Is there really a difference?....The difference that I do see could easily be delta ambient temps.

Yeah, obviously Amsoil was the winner, so they didn't publish that part.

Marketing krap.

...on one of the engines anyway. It would be interesting to test oils like this (including Amsoil, of course) based on equivalent HTHS viscosity and intended use.

Whenever the driver suggested some demon tweak, I always suggested screwing up one less corner and it would come out the same end result......

kind of interesting how RP fared better than M1 and RL in the "normal" RPM range, but not the same in the +7000 rpm range.

None of these oils meet any API specs. They all have very high levels of ZDDP. JG oil has no detergents and can't be used in street engines. It was made by Lubrizol. I know Redline uses Lubrizol as well.

Pablo, Amsoil seems to listen to you.

You should tell them to start making racing oils. Very few race with 20w-50's anymore. I also realize that Amsoil targets the extended drain market more so. But you never know.

I was very surprised. I thought that the RL would have shown better. Mobil 1 did well. I'm sure the Amsoil 0w30 would have been good, however, it's not really suitable for this type of racing bc of the lower amounts of ZDDP.

Hey...that's more than a big faart can muffler will give ya', and the ricers go gaga over those.

Note to self: Marketing idea, Faart Can brand motor oil marketed at ricer parts outlets.

427 - I always wanted to get Faart in a can.

boxcar - rut row

It must be Friday. I apologize.

PS Indeed is that "flat spot" caused by Redline?? In the graph, in the graph silly. @6500 rpm.

The more I think about it, the more likely I lean towards additives being the most important aspect of an oil. Ester based oils are touted as being superior, but M1/RP/Amsoil/GC/Elf are all majority PAO. I guess it comes down to how good the chemist is.

buster, what makes jg oils outstanding? for my info.... its not avail. for street use as of yet says jg tech support...i really like the cosworth oil too..i just feel that redline is unbeatable so is motul..

tom, I don't know. I can only go by what the webpage says and who is using it. It's getting good press.

I looked at the Excel data on that page and there's something wrong with the GM crate motor run with Redline. Notice how all the oils are similar but the Redline. It makes *lots* less horsepower. There's more than an oil difference there IMO.

I wish Mobil was still selling the M1R. It sure works well for extended drains in my Toyota.

Yeah BUT what vis was the JGR oil ??? a 20wt or a 30 as the other guys were???
that dif alone will make the 4-5HP differenece HMMMM.

bruce

bruce, very good point. The oil they used was a 5w-20. Not a fair comparison at all. MicroZol XP1 has Viscosity typical of a SAE 5W-20.

They should have used the Redline 20wt racing oil. Redline 20wt

Redline makes a 2wt oil also.

In Mobil's defense, they too make a 0w-5 and 5w-20 for racing and Joe Gibs didn't test it. I'm starting to sense a bit of a bias here...

yeah a 20 vs a 30 WILL show about that dif in HP and TQ not a valid test IMHO and shows how hokey JGO is even tho the guys formulating it are LZ they are a good group BUT come on the test is NOT fair as the man says period end of story.
