If you need a new coffeemaker and want an actual “good” one, this should get strong consideration.

These are considered the standard by which all other autodrip coffeemakers are judged.

They’re made in Holland, as they have been since the ‘70s or whenever they came out.

Theyre known for their consistent brew temperature, due to the copper heating element (there’s no water pump). They are also highly seeviceable, with most everything able to be serviced/replaced if something breaks (I understand that’s rare).

At these prices, I’m tempted to get one and keep it in the box for the future! Or just to play around with…

Ive never seen these discounted this much. Sorta surprised, as they consistently sell very well, and more and more people are becoming specialty coffee drinkers and finding out about them.

Thanks for posting. Checked them out on Amazon, outstanding reviews. Challange is to decide which one, maker with heated pot or carafe........

I use the 79112 KBT daily. Bought it in Jun ‘22. Those tiny numbers on the right-hand side of the reservoir: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10? Those are cups, but not 8oz cups. 5oz, I guess. I fill it to 8 and the carafe lasts me 6 hours, and I usually throw some out at the end of the day.
It uses the Moccamaster #4 filters. The machine comes with qty 5 of them.

Yeah, the Euros and their 5 oz. sips of coffee calling it a cup!

There's one of these 'best coffee makers in the world..." in my life and it just isn't so.

It's a hazard to allow any guest to make coffee as a plate of useless plastic sets beneath the carafe and will make the thing dispense coffee all over if not perfectly aligned.

The carafe emanates heat like a radiator. We have to boil water to pre-heat it then transfer it immediately into another pre-heated carafe or the coffee is cold.

Best of luck but I do not see any benefit from that style maker. It's nice that they are repairable.

IIRC 5oz cups are an American thing.

My Moccamaster is 4.4oz cups.. I've had one with the hot plate for 13 years.. Still like it.
Since I transfer to a thermos almost immediately I prefer the hot plate style.
Also have made iced tea with it for years with one of those jumbo 1oz bags.

Love the tea. Brew full amount (46oz) over teabag

Dump into 5 liter pitcher that has about 1/3ice 1/3 water in it.
Fridge it overnight.

Tried a new one today on sale at Costco:

I found that plastic plate somewhat useless as well but I super glued it to the body and the problems ended. It makes great coffee. Way better than any Cuisinart or Delonghi or any other machine I've owned.

So do you folks with a Technivorm use their brand of #4 filters.
I was using them until about 6 weeks ago. They are OK but a bit flimsy in my opinion. I switched to this "If You Care" brand.
They're brown, unbleached ones. $8.50 for a box of 400 at Sam's. Ever bit as good as Melitta and more robust than the Technivorm brand which is made by Filtropa in Holland.

A standard European coffee cup equals 125 ml or 4.22 oz. A standard American coffee cup equals 6 oz or 177 ml.
Nonsense. Stop making up silly responses.
A standard American cup is 8 oz.
A standard European cup is 5 0z.
You've probably not been to Europe so perhaps your misgivings are understandable.

Ordered a 79112 KBT on Amazon. If I don't like it, I have till Jan 31 to return. My very old Bunn (15 yr?) is not leaking or anything. The heating element is rattling during the water heating cycles. She ain't got long.

Thanks to contributors on this thread. The responses were helpful.

Not all but part of the better pricing is the Dollar vs Euro exchange rate. Plus the economy is beginning to slow a bit. Got to get those turns on the inventory

I want to update my drip coffee game but I just can't talk myself into spending close to $300

Nice. That’s the one I’d get if I were in the market.

I like the adjustable brew basket. Seems like it would allow the coffee to “steep” a bit more (slowing the flow) when making less than a full pot.

Post a review once you’ve used it a bit and let us know how you like it!

I looked pretty hard at that Simply Good Olson.

Im a sucker for a good deal, and it seems to be pretty much identical, functionally, to a MoccaMaster.

I’ll add to your list the BUNN Heat ‘N Brew. Pretty much a less feature-rich, less expensive version of the Behmor Brazen. Should brew hotter than the Speed Brew due to the mechanics of how it works (less distance and tubing for the brew water to travel, meaning less heat loss).

That’s why I got rid of my Speed Brew - brew water was only 185°F by the time it was coming out of the sprayhead.
