If you remember SLICK 50, PTFE(Teflon) a product that doesn't belong in an internal combustion engine(ICE).
What you're looking at is a product that was advertised as an engine oil additive that's supposed to help engines last longer. Usually known as "snake oil".

While PTFE is stable at lower temperatures, it begins to deteriorate at temperatures of about 260 °C (500 °F), it decomposes above 350 °C (662 °F), and pyrolysis occurs at temperatures above 400 °C (752 °F).

Did slick 50 cause any adverse effects in the engines it was used in?

Just because the company that makes it says not to use it that way doesn't mean it doesn't work, this applies to more than Teflon. People run acetone and/or paint thinner in their fuel, even though its supposed to be used to clean paintbrushes.
