Sylvania Bulb?

Sylvania auto lamps i have seen are Osram (Siemens), they are good.
I had a set of their HID driving lamps (DOT approved) on my old car and had no problems with them in over 5 years of use.
Ballast, housings and bulbs were Made in Germany, a very high quality product that didn't blind on coming drivers.

Google "Dan Stern Lighting" for the full story.

I love their Xtravision lineup. They have, in my experience, lasted very long and performed well. The Xtravisions in my F-150 are over ten years old. They're also readily available at CT for a good price.

I completely agree. I have put XtraVisions on several of my cars, and the light output and longevity of these bulbs is awesome. My Focus has them, and they are going in the Fusion as soon as one of the low-beam OEM bulbs stops working. All this from a bulb that is only a fraction more expensive than the "standard" OEM replacements. As an aside, most XtraVision bulbs are made in Germany IIRC. A great product at a good price, and no blue tint!

Ditto to that plan. The Phillips wedge base bulbs are glass instead of the all plastic wedge base on the Sylvania bulbs. These plastic bases are known to cause arcing and burning problems in the bulb socket even with dielectric gel being used. The glass bases and use of dielectric gel eliminates those problems.

The Sylvania Xtra Vision head lights are quite good for the price. The big problem is that Sylvania has knocked Phillips out of all the big box stores and auto chains locally. Then the prices have really creeped up and suddenly you can not buy many of the Xtra Visions in double packs and some times no Xtra Visions are available in your type.

I found the same problem. But, I was looking and came across the Phillips bulbs at an online Honda dealer (and they fit my Silverado). I believe around $7 each. I bought 2 to have on hand.

If I need to buy the Slyvania bulbs, I try to use an Advanced discount code to get a better deal.

This is not true. I have some Philips 3157A bulbs I bought the other day, and they have the plastic wedge base. The glass/plastic wedge base is not dependent on the brand or manufacturer, but rather on the style of the bulb itself.

For example: all 3157 bulbs have a plastic wedge base, whereas all 7443 bulbs have a glass wedge base, regardless of brand.

Ditto, absolute garbage. At least one will not make it a whole year, tried two sets and same results.

yeah, just go xtra vision, they will probably last longer than the silverstar, from the reviews i read.

I just replaced my sylvania long life bulbs with xtravision as a precautionary measure (i did not install the bulbs, so until i removed them i did not know how much longer they would last) the date code was Dec 2003 on the pair.

Use sylvania with confidence, their Xtravision and LL line are wonderful products that will last a decent ammount of time, the silverstar are gimmick products.

I'm going to have to disagree with the crowd here. Whenever I replace a factory bulb with a Sylvania bulb, I know I'm guaranteed to have to replace that bulb every 6-12 months from then on. They don't last nearly as long as the OEM bulbs. Unfortunately, no other brand seems to be available where I am.

In my honest experience, all Sylvania bulbs last a good while. Yes, even the Silverstar line. I used them in the past (before I realized that blue-tinted bulbs are silly), even transferring the bulbs from one car to another, and never had a problem. I now use the XtraVisions and love them, and they have served me well in 2 of my cars now for some time.
