support local parts store or buy oil at Wallyworld

For me, I don't have any problems with the immigrants that don't speak english, as both my parents are also non english speaking immigrants.

What annoys me about Walmart is that they never have enough cashiers and the express check out line takes 10 minutes. Customer service sucks, but what do you expect from an employee making peanuts working at a job they really don't like.

I'll support the local guy when prices are roughly the same. But if they're charging $11.99 for 4 quarts of a given oil and WM is charging $10.99 for 5 quarts, it only makes good sense to stock up at WM when you go there.

However, making a special trip just to pickup oil makes no sense as you'd waste more money in gasoline & time than it's worth.

Does anyone shop at Target/Super Target for oil? They're just as much of a big box as WM, it just looks nicer.

I tend to buy most stuff at my local AAP. I like the guys there, always gave me a fair shake. I even buy my air fresheners there, they are the only ones who carry the bouquet smell I like.

I DO buy Regane at WM though as its below 5.00 now(4.94) and AAP is over 6.00 a bottle.

Not all Targets stock oil. A couple years ago when I lived in Chapel Hill, NC, a new Super Target opened up in nearby Durham. They did not stock oil at all. They had an "automotive" section that had animal print steering wheel covers, seat covers, and some cleaning products, but not a single bottle of oil. Needless to say, this was dissapointing for me. There were four isles of diapers, a pizza place, and about five different entrances to the store, but not a drop of motor oil in the place.

The one near us in Raleigh had shelves and shelves full of Formula Shell, but not much else.

I buy oil at Wally World when I can find what I need on the close out isle. Or from AA or AZ. All auto parts, like brake pads, sparkplugs, RTV, transmission fliters, starters, alternators, belts, hoses are purchased from a locally owned parts store.

From people like me and you that enjoy their everyday low prices and great selection of merchandise. Plus I love going to the deli and getting some Honey BBQ chicken tenders as I head to the register to pay for my 5 quart jug of Mobil 1.

LOL ! ! !

I usually wait for coupons for Shucks/Kragen/Checkers for oil specials, and I buy WIX filters from the local mom and pop auto parts store. I used to buy all of my oil at Walmart, but it's cheaper now just to look for coupons and use them at the chain auto parts stores.

I try to support my local NAPA store. Great bunch of employees. If they don't have it in stock today, it will be here by noon tomorrow. Hard to beat that kind of service.

It pains me to read these posts where "mom and pop" is used in the same paragraph as national chains such as Autozone, Advanced Auto, Kragens, etc..

In my town of 80,000 with dozens of auto parts stores, I don't believe there is one true "mom and pop", independently owned shop that exists anymore. Even the smaller shops are tied to Auto-Value or Parts Plus.

And, the bigger the parent organization is, the more Chinese parts they seem to have (maybe not NAPA and Carquest).

I guess there are degrees of "mom and pop-ness", but I think that shopping at the automotive "big box" stores like Autozone is not much different than shopping at Walmart. Both companies hire local people, contribute taxes, etc.. Both have driven the small operations out of business.

I have shopped at most of them, depending on my needs, but I try to support NAPA and Carquest the most. They are kind of like the Ace Hardware of auto stores.

It's all just the changing times.

Frankly, Wal-Mart is no better on price than anyone else. They draw people in with loss-leader items. But then their prices on comparable items are nothing to make a special trip over to compare if there might be a 50 cent savings. My time is worth more than that and Wal-Mart is just too irritating to waste my time with.

Ah...the truth. I DREAD ever going to Wal-Mart. It's hard to navigate, people everywhere, stupid shoppers are ALWAYS leaving carts by your car no matter where you park. They'll even leave things on your car, like a baby seat...I've had it happen.

All of this to maybe save a few cents? I like to support others besides Wal-Mart. If it keeps up, half the country will be working there and everyone will be shopping there.

Buy from the auto parts stores...they sell auto parts.

I've pretty much given up on finding what I want at Wal-Mart. their shelves are filled with three different varieties of M1 5w30, but no M1 5w40 and no Rotella T 5w40. I wanted a yellow 1-gallon container for diesel, they used to carry them but now they don't. Parking and traffic around the Wal-Marts are always bad.

I've been in a Super Wal-Mart and they are pretty good. But none of them near me.

WM is for dog and cat food and Mobil 5000 5 qt jugs and blue jeans..

Amsoil for my synthetics.

My mom works for an auto parts place ,so all my other needs come from there.

supercenters are open 24 hrs a day. parking is not a problem for me. I go early mornings or late at night.

Is it me, or does Wal-mart seem to be thinning out their oil and filter sections? Every time I go in there it seems like they drop a flavor of oil or I cannot find some of the oil filters I used to for my power sports equipment. I'm to the point now, i just go to Advanced, OReilly, or Napa for my stuff, depending on what killer sale is going on at the time.

I'm not sure that's healthy...
