'Sup with Wally World?

I've never even heard of TropArtic anything. Then again I haven't been to Wal Mart in a while, we don't have too many of them on Long Island. Who makes TropArtic? Who makes the SuperTech oil filters also, I haven't seen them either, but maybe take a look next time I see a Wal Mart.

I believe TropArtic is based in Oklahoma. Prolly a regional oil that seems to have slipped in market share lately.

MOST of SuperTech filters are made by Champ Labs. Pretty good filter, but the price has about doubled in the last 5 years. A lot of WM stores carry fewer and fewer numbers of them. Usually they have about the same application number as a Fram, but are made by entirely different manufacturer.
Do a Google search on Champ E-Core oil filters.

I'd probably still be using it if I could find 5W-20.

The site that you make reference to was last updated in Aug of 2004. Probably about as old as their oil that's on my local Wally World's shelf, although they did jack the price up here in the last couple of weeks........

I must be missing something here. The price of a barrel of crude oil has more or less doubled in the past 12 months and you're wondering why Wal-Mart's price for oil has gone up around $0.50 per quart?

I understand trying to save money, but if your vehicle uses 5 quarts of oil per change and you change oil 4 times per year...the additional cost is $10.00 annually. Not enough to give a second thought to IMHO.

My last score included 20q of Shell inc 5w-20, $.01c as well as 12 PZ Semi SUV, same price. Paid $1/q for 50 Havoline 5w-20 but it was worth it. Easy to portion out- my car gets synth, the wife's gets dino.

Regardless of that poster, most of us with stashes are changing oil more than 4 times a year. Plus, given the fact that a lot of us built our stashes up on closeout, FAR, and BOGO oil, it becomes a substantial savings.

WELL, 5L M1 10w30 and 0w-40 is between $80 - 90 here, and just bought some 10w30 durablend today for $32... You guys have it easy!
