It's 20 degrees in my Garage, went to pour Super Tech's washer fluid into my truck, tipped the gallon jug and nothing came out.

It's froze SOLID !!

I looked on the jug and in small print it says protects to 32F.

Ya gotta be kidding me !

Now I gotta wait on that one, get a new one that protects to a "normal" temp.

Go look at the labels of your washer fluid to see if yours are the same or not...

Wal-Mart was selling two blends of Windshield washer fluid... a "Summer" version and a "Winter" version.

This was an incredibly dumb idea if you ask me.

Guess which version that you accidentally grabbed (along with thousands of other people)....

Now, out local Wal-Marts are selling a WW fluid labelled as being "Peak" (as in the coolant) brand.

A summer blend is a good idea. When you do not need the freeze protection, you do not introduce to the environment toxic, polluting methanol.
Just gotta read.

I am all for protection. Does it evaporate? Has there been announcements on this? A big Press Release that touts saving whatever?

I bought this jug in October off a big aisle display. ...and I live in Minnesota!

I buy summer WW fluid for the warmer months but it usually protects down to well below freezing still. I always buy the stuff rated to -30F for winter because it seems the -25F (typical winter WW Fluid) fluid will freeze on the windshield when the temps approach 0 deg. F. I've never seen fluid only rated down to 32F. I wouldn't want that around here, it would only be guaranteed good for 3-4 months a year since it can get colder than 32F most months of the year, even if just for a single night.

they do sell a summer and winter washer fluid. gotta read that label. if you got the winter fluid, probably made in china.

You can't even choose by color either.
While blue seems to be the default color for the -20° stuff, I've seen just about every color possible for the -35° premium WW fluid.

You live in michigan so you wont :P. The 32 degree stuff is water based everything up here is alcohol based.
There would be to many people leaving the water based stuff in there system and blowing up there tank when it gets could.

Funny, I bought some yellow washer fluid at Walmart in Michigan, over the summer, think it was "Prestone Bug Wash", and it specifically stated it was not for use in freezing temperatures, so I had to empty it all out a couple of months ago and replace it with winter washer fluid.

Well, I live in Minnesota and the 32F stuff is here........

I should take it back. Wal-Mart should know better not to sell that stuff up here in late October...!

wow that surprises me.

The summer stuff works EXCELLENT for bugs and grime.

The winter stuff works great for not freezing and de-icing.

Bill

I've never seen the summer formula here in Michigan, I always see the -20, -25, -30, etc. I'm using the green -30 stuff at the moment from Meijer.

Sometimes, you go weeks or months without using the washer fluid.

So, does that mean I can only use this stuff May-August, then I really need to excessively use up the gallon that the tank holds to put in the full test winter blend?

I NEED the lowest amount as being in Minnesota, it does get down to -30 to -35 !! Plus, I go ice fishing when it's super cold. I wanna be able to use it to see to get off the Lake !!!!!

Now what on earth does that mean?

Buyer beware. You've never heard that before or was this sarcasm?

I always buy the de-icer version. Its about $1.00 more per gallon and protects lower and will clean some minor ice off windshield. If you switch between summer and winter I cannot see how it will work. In the summer you use very little so come Oct/Nov your container will be filled with summer fluid and will either freeze or not de-ice. I use a gallon or two a year so its maybe $2.00 extra to always have the de-icer in the container?

Your expectation from Walmart was too much.
