I preferred them when they had the spring instead of the current blue-circle but i would use them with no worries for 5K.

They still have a spring loaded bypass - the spring is on the other side of the end cap. It's a better design then the old Champ design IMO.

Core looks too big and look like not much media sq/in with the short pleats. And what IS the media? Resin doped paper or some synthetic blend. the media has to be LARGE and effective to be a good filter - the paper is prob the highest cost in a premium filter.

Now matter what, I suggest (just to be safe), change your oil every 3K. No matter what type or brand of oil and filter.

Its about 1/3 shorter then the Havoline(purolators) I've been using.

You have been a member here for what .... a few days.

Read and learn before posting.

So what are you saying, milwaukee? Isn't this an open forum? You're a bit harsh. But you know what, as long as you are content to what you POSTED, I'll be fine. Plus, it's only an opinion.

Not 1 mile when one can get a wix/ng for the same to little more $$ and have a real filter, the ones i cut open are scary man.

far from excellent,,a M1 or Eao or P1 or upf etc,etc is excellent, not a st.

Show me the bad filter...

To the OP. I stand by what I said. Unlike others, I've used them and cut open each and every one.

And here is the good Wix I used. (I had a bad one also)

Take care, bill

They ALL look like dome end junk to me. I would much rather have an Ecore. If I can find an STP 3950 I will use it rather than an ST 3593A or an L 10193.

I use the Motorcraft FL910 (Same as ST3614) in my 4cyl Camry.
I would try it, just make sure that the gasket seals.
I'm able to run it on mine b/c of the oil cooler (it offers a wider base.) However I've seen a Pennzoil (Yellow Fram

)ST 3614 equivilent on a Celica GT (Same engine) and it didn't leak. So you should be ok.

Are you sure the Pennzoil was a Fram? Purolator's been making them for a while now.

Yes it was a Fram, This was 6 years ago when Fram was still making them for Pennzoil.

Possibly. It might be a cost issue with the manufacturers. The smaller filter may work fine, but I don't see the problem using a larger filter.

For example, my Mazda 3 also calls for the ST3614. I use a ST3600 on it for the larger volume, especially nice when 1000 mile LC adds take place.
