My wife's car got broken into yesterday. It happened at church in the broad daylight. We are a part of an inner city ministry that works with the poor and homeless, so it was a matter of time before we fell victim. It looks as if they used a screw driver. The person punched in the door lock and I guess was able to turn the lock because my wife never heard the horn alarm go off. The car was parked close to her office window. They then went to work on the ignition switch. The assailant either could not get the car started or gave up. When my wife tried to start the car, it would crank, run for a few seconds and then shut down. She tried 3 times and then it just would not crank at all. The car is a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. I assume the key has an anti-theft chip in it, but not sure. Perhaps the ignition switch was messed up beyond function or a anti-theft mechanism has rendered the car useless. It's at the dealership now and we will be out the $500 deductible. Oh joy!!

Yup, we have break-ins all the time at our church...in a good neighborhood, with armed patrols on foot in the parking lot. If people want something, they'll still find a way to take it. Sucks. Just tow it off and have insurance pay for the repairs, who knows what all is damaged inside the door and column.

I got lucky, I can still use my passenger side door, but the lock was destroyed by a screwdriver. That guy did 4 hours in jail and was out on bond, was never sentenced though I caught him and he was arrested on the spot, and the burglary was video taped ggggrrrrrrrrrrr!

We have no idea who broke into the car, but from what I've heard, as in your case Solo, car theft is a petty crime. However, my car and insurance payment every month doesn't seem to petty. The last car that was stolen from our parking lot was spotted by the owner just down the street in some projects. He got a friend to ride with him and went and got the car back. The car thief was probably ticked off that someone stole the car that he stole.

I'm almost certain that the anti theft system is why it won't start now.

Nowadays, the rich seem more in need of spiritual guidance - in some cases massive teaching is needed.

my father's old chevy beretta got broken into while we were in church circa 1993. it was in mid town Memphis, so my dad knows how you feel. $500 deductible.

This incident, this thread, and this website do not matter in the big picture. I'm just killing some time here!

Don't know about you there Big Daddy Warbucks, but $500 matters in my big picture. Especially 500 dollars that I have to fork out because someone else decided my car should become theirs. Oh I forgot to mention the $300 I had to fork out for my wife's cell phone that got stolen at church a month ago. Give's meaning to "helping till it hurts"

It's a foul smelling fruit from SEA that is eaten by many as a delicacy. The fruit's smell is however so offensive that the sale of durian has been banned in many places. If I remember correctly, Pablo said durian-flavored ice-cream was good.

Consider it a $15/week extended ministry. The price of works.

A few weeks ago in Miami, some thugs were breaking into cars outside a BestBuy and a customer called the police. Police show up , the thugs try to ram the police with their car and the Miami's finest opened up with a blaze of gun fire. One thug dead and the other riddled with bullets.

I wished stuff like this happened more often.
