Small TGDI engine warmup/heat?

Apparently, FCA has been fitting the diesels with these. Not sure if the DT non-diesel has it, but it gets heat basically instantly in the winter, so there's something going on there that we really appreciate.
Yep, BMW does that for some 30 years. You would think companies would replicate that in engines that are “challenged “ when it comes to warming up.
 
It takes a lot of amps on a 12V electrical system to put out any usable heat. 500W at 12V would only make dent in warmup temps, spread over the full cabin of the vehicle, and that’s 50 amps. I think you’d need 750-1kw to have any notable affect.

my 1.8l gasser Subaru would cool back off if it was under 20f with the heat on.

the 2.7 ecoboost v6 warms up delightfully fast. The 3.8 Chrysler v6 was sssllooowww. Toyota 4.7 was slow too. I like the smaller engines for their rapid warm-up times.
