I watched the oil pressure gauge, and it stayed at its normal 30-80 (depending on throttle position). The temp gauge also stayed normal, but I honestly didn't expect any real change there.
Its going to take some effort, but I'm going to do my best to drive it as much as possible. Anyone who owns an older Jeep knows these things are short on creature comforts, especially when you are accustomed to driving newer vehicles. I do know it has a small exhaust leak on the top of the pipe, but I am not sure I can get to it with my MIG welder to fix. Guess I'll check on some temporary solutions tomorrow, but it needs to be plugged. Its simply too loud as it is!
Honestly, I would give up my car for my Jeep if it was still in the family. That was my favorite ride out of all of them. It was rugged, reliable and never gave me issues. The internals were probably far worse off than what you have going on now but it would crank instantly. It sat for years as our emergency vehicle and after 2 years of non-use I needed it in the winter. 2 years of no starting, and god knows how the oil was at the time(shared between my brother and I). Started up in the dead of winter and that Jeep 4.0L cold howl like a wolf was beautiful
. 14 years 225k miles and the rust was killing it. Engine and Trans all original =)
God I wish I still had it
It was easy peesy to work on much like my Xterra was and far more fun to drive =)
