does anyone have these head lights, its 100 bucks for the high and low beams.. they are supposed to be a lot brighter.any thoughts

I did HIDs about 4 years ago and won't go back to anything else. Check ebay for slim ballast conversion kits.

I run the regular Silverstars. Was thinking about upgrading to Ultras as I needed a new low beam bulb, but just bought a replacement. $21.99 at Advance for one bulb about killed me.

The filament design used to throw a "brighter" light means the bulbs do not last a long time compared to normal halogen bulbs. If you can handle replacing them frequently, try the Ultras or one of their competitors (PIAA, Hella, GE, etc)

I run them in two vehicles. Both had hi/lo dual bulbs.

They're not HID, but they are bright and and give great illumination. I originally planned only to change the bulbs the wife's car, but decided to change out the bulbs in my van after seeing the difference in her car.

If you're looking for the HID/Blue experience, these are not your bulbs. If you just want better illumination, go for it.

You could always ask the mods to move it if you are worried about where it is posted.

To the OP I have used the SilverStars and they have lasted me years.

Some is due to people using improper bulbs, but even more is due to poor habits by those suffering the problem.

From both of the lighting forums that I belong to Silverstar ultras are a joke. Supposedly They throw the light further ahead and to the sides but alot of that has to do with the design of your headlamps. As far as hid being blue. All OEM hid bulbs (capsules) come in 4100k Osram Sylvania, or 4300k Philips. There are a handful of vehicles with DOT legal 5000k (4800k) GE bulbs. The light is white with a hint of yellow, that burns in to pure white after 100-150 hours of use. The "flicker" or multi-colored effect that people mistake hid bulbs for being blue is due to the prismatic effect of the cutof shield.
