I was just out shopping for a 5W20 oil and I was pretty amazed to see how many brands are now available in Canada. A couple years back, we had almost zero selection. Here's what 5W20s I found today at Canadian Tire and Walmart:

Castrol GTX
Castrol Syntec
Pennzoil
Pennzoil Synth
Quaker State
Valvoline
Tech 2000
Motomaster Formula 1
Motomaster Formula 1 Synthetic

By the way, Walmart sells its motor oils at a much cheaper price than Canadian Tire. Most 5W20 1 litre bottles at CT were $3.99, while at Walmart they were $3.29.

I'm not surprised... as you know, it's COLD up there!

Car parts stores or wally are about the only places to find viscosity ranges OTHER than 5w and 10w30 in the Buffalo NY area

. Talk about a non-BITOG town!

I bought some Motorcraft 5W-20 oil from my local Ford dealership @ $2.95/L about 3 months ago but they were rated API SL/GF-3.
Stopped by there again two weeks ago and the MC 5W-20 was still sale priced @ $2.95 but the new stock now shows latest API SM/GF-4 specs.

I would not find that too surprising in that Canadians buy a lot of Honda's. Honda as you probably know has been specifying 5w20 for a few years now. Ford has also been specifying 5w20 for a few years now also.
