Here's another RLI BioSyn VOA addition to the BITOG data base.

This 0W30 is both lite on viscosity and weaker than most SM additive packages today. Renewable's PDS on this product claims a cSt viscosity of 11.3 at 100C. Anyway, I plan on sending a copy of this analysis to RLI for their comment(s).

Blackstone Comment:

Nothing unusual showed up in this sample of 0W/30. The viscosity was on the low side of the range for a 0W/30 but it still read normally. No moisture or insoluble materials were found. The TBN read 8.0 so this oil starts out with lots of active additive. We consider 1.0 too low for extended use. Calcium is a detergent/dispersant. Both phosphorus and zinc are anti-wear additives. We think this oil will work well for your engine(s).

Not very impressive compared to the other samples we've seen. TBN is not all that high for this pricey oil...I wonder if this batch has any antimony?

Pablo,

I'm with you, a lot of these blackstone samples (virgin especially), are WAY off. I would have a difficult time trusting any of them lately, which is unfortunate.
