Rising cost of PP... it's time for me to move on.

Those of us who have frequented bitog over the years have watched our favorite formulations sometimes double or triple in price.

Exactly, and if there is a product that can do as good a job for less, why not try it?

Yes, I noticed that too at my Walmart. I'm in north San Diego county! I bought all the PP they had on the shelf for 4.01. I should go check tomorrow and see if they put any more out. I'll bet it's only a matter of time before the price of it goes up too!

w00t! Went by my local WM this evening, and guess what? PP @ $19.88 per 4.4 litre jug. I bought all the 5w30 they had and left the 10w30 jugs for the 'thick' crowd

If anyone lives in the Ottawa area, run to your local WM and stock up

It's true that PP is up $4 at Walmart right now but dino oil has gone up too.

The comparison for PP is really with Mobil 1.

The margin there is still $3 more for the M1 ($26 for 5 qt. jug).

PP is still a good buy if you want a higher spec. synthetic oil.

wait for the sales at the major auto parts stores wal-mart is getting to pricey for many of us what wal-mart does not seem to understand or don't care is when i go in and buy my oil and car "stuff" my wife almost always spends a hundred or more on other things in the store i guess it will really save me money now because my wife wont go to wal mart without me and now i have no reason to be there

Well, I picked some up at Pep Boys today, for about $30 (5 qts.) with a Purolator 'Pureone' filter. I'm gonna send in for a $5 rebate making it about $25 minus taxes.

So, others can move on, while I move in for the my first run of the stuff..

Take care, bill

Coffee is my friend.

LOL... makes no sence... like the people waiting in a long line at a gas station for half hour with their engine running to save a dollar at the pump.

Thats true, im the same way. An extra two bucks or even five bucks in six months is nothing to be crying over.

If a gas station is 20 or so cents cheaper and the pumps are packed ill head to another one. The savings isnt really worth it to me.

I feel exactly the same way, however..........If I am standing in the oil isle in my favorite store ready to buy oil, and a comparable product that I know is good is on sale and I can save a few $'s on it, why not? Most BITOG'ers switch brands all the time w/o issue. It's not like I am going out of my way for it or waiting on line to save money.

To Steve S. Yes, I do UOAs and the first 6K UOA looked OK for a DISI turbo engine still breaking in. My next UOA will be done at 18,000 miles (total engine miles) and at that time I will readjust my OCI. I suspect that the DISI turbo engine will require a change @ 6-8 K however. Ed

You should see the price of PP up here. We pay $9.89 for 1L but $19.88 for 4.4L still? Its the new math, and for once its in my favor! ...he said as he looked at his 10jug PP stockpile....

oh yeah... PP love. I went back and bought 4 more jugs of 10w30 for summer use... w00t!

23.00 here in CO today. I bought it but at that price I will consider other options for my wife's RAV4. No rush to jump ship but no need to stay either.

I was in AAP. PP was $7.19 a quart. I was so shocked I doubled checked the sticker. I hope that price was computer error.

The only time I will step foot into a Wal-Mart is to buy motor oil! I figure they and the oil companies deserve each other. Lately I have been buying my oil from a local chain of Import Car Part Specialist stores. Somehow they are even cheaper than Wal-Mart.

The same Walmart that has PP for 23.00 for a 5 qrt jug is something like 5.20 or somthing per qrt.
