Recommendations for After Market Apple Carplay

This year Hyundai Mapcare announces it will stop providing navigation unit updates for my 2011 Sonata, and I don't really want to swap it for an aftermarket radio because it also displays my AC setting and other useful data. Browsing through Google I see a lot of tablets that load with Apple Carplay and claim they can do the job. Has anyone gives them a try and do they really work? Are there any recommendations for Apple CarPlay add-on? Thanks in advance.

I know it's not exactly what you're asking, but I have the same situation with my Grand Cherokee. I just use a MagSafe mount for my phone and use the maps on there. I just set my phone on it and it magnetically mounts. All I need, just used it for navigation full time up to Oregon and back a few months ago.

As Nick wrote, if you just want navigaion, the cell phone works just fine.
