Reason for lack of 10W-30 full synthetic ?

Sounds like you don't understand winter rating.
Serious?

5W-30 or 10w30

Now tell me out of the 2 which one has the lowest viscosity base oil?

I'm not worried about winter as when I was a kid we used straight SAE 30 in all our vehicles year round and in the winter there was a lake in our area that would freeze a foot thick some times.

If memory serves 10w30 for a honda gen3 is recommended in other countrys down to -30 or so, we never even come close to that temp.
Honda can't recommend it in the US, you know fuel economy so its 5W-20, and on the 2010 - 11's 0W-20, many owners use 5W-30 though.

The mention of amazon yeah super high costs there.

I like Amsoil, I just can not afford it now, I used to use it all the time in this particular vehicle, I may have to stop eating and go back to it. That is if I can find a place that sells it.

What vehicle do you drive (what the owner's manual says about engine oil), does your engine burn oil, and how cold does it get in your area in the winter?
I think it says 5W-20 its a 2000 chevy ist product. At the first oil change its been living on 10w30 and is why it is still running perfect.

Well, if you consider that making a no VII 5W-30 is possible…….Since HPL has a No-VII 5W-30, there is zero point for a 10w30.
The point would be a No-VII 5W30 would be made with lighter (lower viscosity) base stock than the No-VII 10W30. This would give the 10W30 lower Noack volatility, which is good, and to me therefore makes the 10W30 better.

Fair point, but he didn't ask why it is "better", but less common. In places where it gets old, such as the US or Canada, 5W makes all the sense to recommend, from a manufacturer's perspective. All else being equal, the difference in volatility between a 5W and a 10W would be inconsequential compared to the need of being able to start the engine when it's cold.

Says the guy who lives in Canada. I live in Australia, we can run 10W30, or even 15W40, year round.

Here we get full synthetic oils like Castrol Edge 10W30 A5/B5, that would have a Noack around 6-7%. What’s not to like?
10w-30 can be made with a lower quality base oil these days compared to 5w-30, so not all 10w30s that are still available are as good as the 5w-30 from the same brand. I still stand by my statement, there are no cars made recently that call for 10w30, and a well made 5w-30 can do everything that a 10w30 can do anyway. There sure are a lot of upset people here but you know it’s true. 10w30 started becoming obsolete a long time ago…

The last two vehicles I had that actually called for 10w30 were
  • 1997 Audi A4 Quatro 1.8T
  • 2001 Volvo V70XC
Note that both of those engines were turbos. In my personal experience the recommended oil changed to 5w-20 in 2005 and 0w-20 in 2010.

There are tons of 10w30 oils on Walmart.com. As mentioned, free shipping at $35. What's the problem?

I use 10w30 in my lawn equipment!
