Canadian Wal Marts have these oils on sale this week for a cheap ( for Canada )
$8.88 / 4 litre jug. Any preferences among the cognoscente for using in a Subaru non turbo 4 cyl? Canadian PYB is Shell, don't know about Castrol.

PYB in Canada is PYB. Pennzoil is owned by Shell but the brands of oil are different. But back to your original question, I would use the PYB.

Now I'm confused.

I would use Pennzoil in the yellow bottle before I would Castrol GTX in the white bottle.

What I probably did a poor job of saying was is Pennzoil in the yellow bottle is not the same product as Shell in the Shell bottle. Made by the same company but two completely different oils.

castrol gtx

never liked pyb, caused my engine to bronze up despite 4k oci

i've seen tons of engines with over 200/300k when using gtx. there was a civic with over 900k miles running just castrol gtx. i have a picture of it too but cant find it

my bro used pyb in his malibu over years and even after 8k oil was still full on DS

Thanks for all the input. When I went to WM they had 4.4 litres ( about the same as a 5qt in US) of PP for $19.00 so I splurged. It says on the bottle "distributed by SOPUS products, Houston TX" so I assume our Canadian PP is the same as US. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. Cheers!

Great choice.

Just an interesting thing I noticed...at my local walmart they only had 2 cases of PYB left but about 3 skids worth of GTX.

I wonder which one is more popular??

I don't doubt that GTX is good oil but I don't really doubt that Valvoline is too and Mobil 5000 for that matter. I don't want an oil with sodium additive and I don't care for the bottles Castrol uses without a clear graduation. There's other things I don't like about castrol that's not really about the oil itself. I like PYB and Castrol would be my last choice, so I'd go with PYB even if Castrol was cheaper.
