Thanks for posting, but no thanks. The Fram Ultra is less expensive at everyday prices and holds up better than this Puro. If I were to use these it would be for 1 OCI of 10K or less. They dont seem to be extended drain filters like Amsoil, RP, Fram Ultra, etc.

Wow, lots of gritty debris caught inside the can. Was engine cleaning going on. Again, this filter was ran twice it's rated FCI by Purolator.

Cause clearly the appearance of a filter determine how well it filters...
It has some uneven pleat spacing, but for 20k miles I don't think it looks all that bad. I've seen Classics and Mopar filters on here that looked like that after 3500-5000 miles. Judging by all the grit in the can, it doesn't look like this filter had an easy job either.
I seriously doubt the filter was clogged and in byspass.

Agreed. Considering that the exact same filter on the same car with around 3k FCI looked very similar.

This filter has wire backed media? I thought that I read it did--therefore, my thought is that the media seems to be incredibly wavy for wire backing. I would expect that from a non-wire backed filter, but not one with. Otherwise, the filter looks like it did its job albeit on an engine that has some cleanliness issues happening internally. I think certain models of the modulars had replaceable PCV valves whereas others had them "built-in". Have you checked for that on this one? Fair amount of crud being filtered there...

Based on what you are saying then, I would limit the FCI to 10K and not push it. Also, it would seem that some clean up is in order within the engine. Some short OCIs with a cheap filter and conventional oil + a cleaning additive might help clean it up a bit faster.

I agree, I think the FRAM ULTRA is the best oil filter when it comes to #1 price , #2 Easy to find, #3rd but not last it does a very good job and is a very good oil filter.
I wouldnt go out of my way to buy anything else.
Fram Ultra or Fram TG..
I have a Honda A01 on now and thats just b/c I wanted to use one and cut it open, back in the day I never use to cut the A01s open.
I dunno why Puro is doing but they need to come here and look at see whats going on.

Honestly it did its job but I'm not impressed with the looks of the media. The good news is there is no torn media. OTOH it is going to take a lot to sway me back to Purolator, and those pictures aren't going to help. No flames intended, jmo. Thanks to the OP for posting.
