I wrote Purolator stating that many people were not happy with the quality of their oil filters and according to them they monitor the posts/comments made by people on this site. They keep in touch with who have concerns about their oil filters. At least the responded to my questions/comments that I had.It would be great if they answered questions that people have on this board.Joe

Does this mean they actually do something about it or just they watch and ignore? They probably figure we're 1% of the oil filter buying community, and don't care because they haven't done a thing about it in how many years?

I don't really care. At one time I might have, but Jay is here from Fram and answers questions in spite of the abuse he takes so I'll support Fram when I am not buying OE filters.

There was a guy here that had an engineering background that was working with Puro after a filter failure (IIRC) but I haven't seen a post from him in a while.

Perhaps they do monitor, but i've seen no evidence that they do anything about what they see.

Puro knew their stuff was tearing but it takes a while to retool the line. They would have bought any engines that were spontaneously destroyed. So you (we) have to worry about slightly elevated particles taking a few miles off the far end of an engine's life, impossible to prove.

I agree Fram seems to atleast care enough to atleast answer questions. Thanks Jay, although the Fram HM off my buddy's truck never has the goo come out of the goo bucket and that was never answered to my knowledge.

Watching is one thing, doing something about it is another. They lost my business, not that they care, nor does it matter to them.

Interesting that they "monitor" BITOG, but when members ask questions DIRECTLY via email or similar, there is absolutely NO ANSWER. If they are actually paying attention, they would at least respond to a tech support question once in a while. Combine that lack of response with filter construction that's far worse than even a no-name Chinese jobber filter, it's no wonder no one likes nor uses them!

I'm supporting Fram as well.

I have to say that I was a very long term supporter/user of their filter going back 20+years. Even before that, I would cut open filters for my Toyota from various vendors and chose Purolator as the best value for the dollar (before the days of the M1, K&N, boutique filters).

However, due to BITOG members experience and recent evidence, I am NO LONGER a Purolator fan. I'm moved to the FRAM Ultra. Can they win me back? Sure, but it will take a lot.

Same here, has anyone received any correspondence from them? Other than one reply?

Maybe they will plant some direct marketing people on here to help improve opinion of their brand.

Stuff like this has been done before and been pretty effective.

43,000,000 Americans change their own oil. .1% would be 43,000 people, about the number of members of this board. (not counting for the international members)
