Honestly not a big movie guy, suprising, considering my occupation. Get bored easily. Last one I saw in its entirety was "Sin City".....liked it. Wahts that say about me? I need to know.

Too much rain here on the East Coast, rather be surf fishing.

phillyFX4: you've got too much time on your hands. Or the acetone fumes have had an ill effect on your cognitive processes.

Oh, by the way, you mis-typed "What's" as "Wahts" in your post.

It doesn't work. But everybody tries it at least once anyway. An extra 10 mpg? Sorry, that's just flurkin' impossible.

I have tried a 50-50 mix of acetone and tolulene. I used on on four different cars and all ran and idled smoother. None had a increase in fuel milage

Like John said, it's been discussed before, and at great length with people running their own experiments. Try digging up that thread.

A web search will reveal many who get a bit better performance, and gas mileage [with the proper amount of acetone added to the fuel].
I've tried it, and it seemed to help the idle a bit. It will clean things , for sure, and that can help.
I stopped because it is a rather strong solvent to be dealing with on a regular basis. Storage, handling, and paint concern me.
At recommended doses, I can't see any harm, so you can try it.

Gents, head to the additive forum. This got brought up extensively in the months of high gas after Katrina. There are even at least two threads discussing Mythbuster's debunking of it. General feeling is there may be a decarbonization/fuel system cleaning that brings one-time gains for some, but boxcartommie is about the only one who claims consistent gains in mpg ONLY when acetone is in the tank.

10 mpg is nothing, some nuts claim a 50% increase in mpg....of course, the oil companies are keeping the truth from us....

I have done my research and found out that acetone will cause slight swelling of rubber fuel linings. Also I have tested on my car and did not see any significant increase. It was about 2mpg more, but then i think that it was my driving style.

I'm trying a 1:475 acetone mix right now. Previous tank had a good dose of deposit control additive. So far I don't notice any difference at all.

I like to verify things, even if to prove a negative.
