I have a Cannon PIXMA IP-4200 printer which "thinks" it has a paper jam. I've looked everywhere there is no paper jam. I've tried power off/on...new device driver etc no help. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Have you tried opening the cover and manually moving the print head shuttle back and forth a few times? I have one of these too and every now and then I have to turn it off, move the shuttle, and turn it back on. Additionally, when I was researching this error I found several people saying that their paper sensors went bad and had to be replaced.

Amazon has the printer for $84.00 with free shipping. It comes with a fresh set of cartridges.

Save your old cartridges and you have a new printer with a set of new cartridges.

I opened all the covers and gave it the greasy eye ball but I don't see any thing inside. I suppose one of the sensors went bad.

Oh well time for a new printer. Thanks everyone for your replies.

I tried that too...nothing. It must be a sensor is bad because I sure can't see or blow anything out of it to make it better.

I buy the 49 dollar black and white laser printers myself. I throw them out every 2-3 years, and get great service out of them for 49 dollars. Right now I'm using a brother.

I prefer the wireless brothers.. pay about 79$ they last 2-3 years before a drum replacement that costs as much as a new printer. I have one thats printed about 40000pages it has a line on it.. but its fine for anything except.. a resume etc.

These days you "upload" a resume. But I know what you mean.

I get the aftermarket toner cartridges, and drums on ebay. I think a drum for my brother was 17 or 27 dollars, and the ink is always under 20 for a remanufactured cartridge.

I buy about one toner per year, and my fiance prints a ton of papers for grad school.
