Pre-heating oil before change

Getting ready to do an oil change later today. Oil had been sitting on the car for a few days at 10*F to 25*F temps. Brought the oil inside to pre-heat it so all of its oily goodness flows out of the bottle when I do the change.

To speed the process up, I set the oil bottles in some hot water... does this sound like normal BITOG behavior?

I changed oil in the Fusion last week, and the oil(0-20) had been in the garage. The evening before, I brought the oil in the house so it would flow better.

I keep the oil @ room temperature during the cold months also, and shake the bottles! File it under "it can't do any harm."

I let my oil bottles sit around for a few days after my OC then rinse them with LC. Gets all the remaining stuff out, so I'm not too worried about the temp pouring it into the engine.

My wife looks at me like i'm nuts...lol

Seems normal enough to me.
For winter changes, which I try to avoid, I bring the stuff in the night before the planned change, and let it sit near the boiler.
That way, it pours easily and quickly.

Back in the day we thought 20w-50 Cam 2 was the best, used to sit the cans on the wood stove to heat it up first.

I once made the mistake of heating 20w-50 w/a space heater and burned a case at my dad's shop.

I do that!

Thanks guys!

Oil change went well. I did shake and/or slosh the oil. Never saw any goodies left in the bottom.

Let the bottles sit upside down over the fill-hole in the VC for a few minutes each time to let the drippings drip.

My oil is stored in the basement, and shaken well before pouring it into an engine. In the days when I stored oil outside I would move the oil I planned on using for an OC into the house a few days before putting it to use. I'd say you're normal!

Does that sound like typical BITOG behavior?

Only if you occasionally cuddle with it.
