Prestone power steering fluid meets the spec and always worked good in Buick. I recently switched to Royal Purple psf and it's noisier close to the locks. Going back to Prestone.

Also the GM cold climate psf has some good properties indicating synthetic.

GM has never spec'd transmission fluid for PS.Chrysler never did until ATF+4.Ford has always used Type F and later DexI/II/III.Imports use Dex and weird, expensive blends.

Not true. 2013+ Gmc Acadia models come factory filled with Dexron VI in the power steering. Same would be true for the Traverse and Enclaves.

All of my Chevy's from from '62 to '92 used Dexrons in the PS.

My '99 S-10 and '08 TrailBlazer use GM PSF.

I believe that's what we used in the GM taxis, too. I still have a giant jug of some sort of dated Dexron hanging out in the garage. Then, the G specifically recommends Dexron VI for Canada.

What is interesting is that over on the Acadia forum, there are issues with their power steering making noise. The fix is the dealer doing a drain and flush and installing dexron VI fluid where it normally takes GM P/N 89021184. This seems to stop the noise.
