Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

Purchased 2 x 5QT Castrol GTX FS in 5w20 for $13 each from my local WM. They also had Castrol Edge EP on clearance but price was $32 so no go. I talked to the manager and found they are only keeping Castrol Edge (not EP).

Today's harvest. From Walmart

The maxlife 10w40 was clearance at 5 dollars a jug. I would have bought a third jug but it was leaking.

The Castrol GTX/magnatec was 2 dollars a quart on clearance. I bought all that was left in 5w20

Received my Amsoil SVG 75w90 for the WRX diffs, also received some Full brand oil filters. I bought one of these a couple weeks ago to cut open and check out. It looks just as good as the OEM filter for half the price. So I will try these out for a bit.

Oh and 3 more oil sample kits from Amsoil! I’m stocked up for a bit

Bought 10 quarts of PP 5w30 today for the mustang, which is exactly what it calls for, and submitted my receipt for the $20 rebate. Also bought a jug of Castrol GTX 0w20 that was on clearance and a Super Tech 6607 for the wife’s Sentra. Yesterday we traded in the Sentra for a 2020 Nissan Rogue, lucky for me it spec’s the same 0w-20 and Super Tech 6607 filter.

I recently got 5 gt. jugs of Valv. Adv. 0w20 and PUP 5w20. Delivered free to my door from the Wal. as always. Not a Wal.+ member. I source filters from Rock Auto for all vehicles, multiples at a time. Usually Mahle, sometimes Wix or Denso. Bike filters from Suzuki or HiFlo filtro.

Chevron Supreme and ST filter on my dad's '93 Saturn SL2. Swapped out a random shop filter on my '99 Civic, that I couldn't get off without an adapter, for a Fram TG. 3K on the oil so I'll change it out before my next smog and keep the TG on.

Just ordered 2 5qt jugs of PP from Walmart.com so I can submit for the rebate. PUP is out of stock there and also a lot more expensive. I'm sure with my ~2k mile oil changes it will be fine. ;-)

I bought a couple of quarts of M1 5W-30 to put into my friend's van. She mentioned that recently her oil light flickered a few times so I checked the oil for her and discovered it was down a bit. Put in about 1.5 quarts and the problem seems to have been solved. I put the remainder in her shed and I'll check the oil again the next time I visit with her.

That story has circulated widely, but it is misinformation. Walmart is closing TWO underperforming stores in Portland, one on N Hayden Island Drive in an industrial area just south the Columbia River, and another in a hard to access location off of SE 82nd Avenue, on March 24. Neither of those stores is close to a densely populated residential area, and the very heavy northbound afternoon traffic every day on Interstate 5 made the Hayden Island store difficult to access most days. We visited both of those stores, on separate occasions, some years ago, and they were so dreary we never returned. A Walmart Superstore farther east, on 122nd Avenue, and another, close-in south, in Tigard, are both open and thriving, so the "all of their stores" allegation is, simply, false. The clue, in most of the stories, is that the addresses of the stores that are closing are misconfigured: i.e., "4200 82nd Ave. SE," when Portland geography puts the sector segment at the front of the address: "4200 SE 82nd Ave." All of the iterations appear to have originated with one (ignorant) reporter in Seattle.
