It is hard to believe that there isn't some one (Chinese) out there that couldn't use the excellent network they have as a turn key operation....I can think of others as well....

Peugeot/Citroen
Renault

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Saturn network is not completely gone yet.....

I'd love to see Peugeot/Citroen return to the NA market. The French manufacturers are the only ones who are consistently willing to be different.

Oh yeah...THIS thing was different, alright...

Citroën DS

I'd like to see a French company too, but sentiment is against it in the US. Especially for a bunchof flag-wavers like Saturn owners.

Nissan is Japanese.

It was my understanding that what sunk the deal was in fact that Penske couldn't get Renault/Nissan to market their vehicles as Saturns and without a reliable vehicle supply beyond 2011 Penske backed out of the deal.

I used to be a Nissan fan having owned a Sentra SER and a Maxima but the newer (Gaulic) Nissans do nothing for me.

Unfortunately, our insight into what the French attitude toward the US is has been colored by the political-class and the vocal minority. The average citizen and businessman have a far better opinion of the US than we give them credit for.

I think the anti French thing is nothing more than the machinations of the neocon zelots that are now in the doghouse.

Peugeot and especially Citroen nowadays have some very nice reliable products they would sell here..They have flair and character with a large dose of practicality not to mention they are very fuel efficent models...

I know there has been talk by management at PSA that they had been looking to return to the US market for a decade now...I bet the price would be rock bottom for the Saturn network and facilities now that Penske has bowed out and their is desperation ...if there ever was a time for a interested party to enter the US car market with a turn key operation at a bare bones price now is the time...they would be literally getting a STEAL of a deal!!!!!!!!!

Sir,
There was nothing ugly about the DS or the ID.
Now the 2CV is another matter and there were some really hideous things based upon that model.

Actually, I was referring to the press coverage of French commentary about the US and Americans. There have been plenty of politicians, of all persuasions, who have been more than willing to incite any kind of "ism" they can profit from. No one needs to start climbing on their phony high-horse...

The Peugeot/Citroen diesels are the top of their field. Their chassis design is also among the best. Citroen's use of active suspension control systems leads the industry. There are at least a half dozen PSA vehicles I'd love to call my own. Have money, will buy. What more can I say?

The availability of a highly rated US/Canadian dealer network, the growing public acceptance of small diesel engines and a modern record of producing cars capable of meeting American standards for reliability means this is the time for PSA to move. If they don't grasp the opportunity this presents, I can't see them ever returning to the US/Canadian market. I mean for cripes-sake, take a look at this... Peugeot de Mexico

I'll take a Peugeot 207 RC Turbo 1.6l AM for $19,010.33 US, thanks!

175hp @ 6000RPM
177lb-ft @ 1600RPM
0-62 mph in 7.1 seconds
32.67 mpg combined

I know the dealer council is still hoping that a miracle might happen. I can't believe they wouldn't pitch themselves to Peugeot. Even today Peugeot is a bit obscure in the USA, hopefully some of the folks on the dealer council will think of PSA and might be looking at a possibility. Even though the media has stated that Saturn is dead somehow I believe that there could be talks going on with potential suitors right now. We can only hope....I mean the opportunity to have the Saturn infrastructure and possibly even a modern mfr plant seems at a steal of a price seems to good to pass up if you can get the financing and you are looking to the long term future.

PSA and Saturn if you are reading this I hope you'll think about it!!!!

I'd definitely be interested in the C3 or maybe a 207.

The Citroen C4 is awesome.

I see Saturn has sold 4m cars and an extremely high percent on the road still.

All the goodwill and customer base...into the wind.

The last thing GM needs is ~another~ GM-beater on the market.

It seems like GM divided and then beat-off all their young customer base. The whole thing is such a bad move, Saturn is the 1st GM brand I'd keep.

The whole Saturn thing is sorta '90s anyway.

Funny, GM as a company started with too many divisions to begin with went and created just what they needed, ANOTHER brand and division. The rest is history.
