Good rainy morning BITOGER's. Yesterday around 3:30pm i went to the Family Dollar near me. As i was walking into the store i passed by this older Kia sedan with 4 bald tires. Please maintain your tires as winter is approaching.

Not sure how you can maintain that tire... short of replacing it. It's done all it can. Looks like a bit of an alignment issue, but being on the front I'm guessing it never got a rotation and that kind of outside shoulder wear might just be normal.

Am starting to chomp at the bit for black friday sales, dithering if I want to put snows onto all my vehicles this year or not. Farmer's Almanac says it'll be a good snowfall this year--not sure I believe them, but it seems about time.

Well, the snows on my truck are near full tread but pushing 4 years old. I think they'll be ok. Snows for wife's car are shot, the good half is gone and the remaining half are loud. Real question is, do I bother with cheap snows for my car... considering we both stay home when it snows. Only two drivers so three cars with snows is a bit overkill.

Plus it's fun doing doughnuts on all seasons. I think that's what the purpose of the handbrake is for, after all it's the only thing I use it for.

Just the thing for the next 6 months here.

If I wasn't so lazy and irresponsible I'd try and get some.

That means warm and little snow, right?

I heard warm but with lots of snow. That worries me--powder is easy to move (if not annoying) but heavy packing snow? My back is already groaning at the thought of shoveling my roof.

Yep a lot of states don't have inspections. You know those pesky "regulations" so many complain about.

Same for me in NY. It would not have passed inspection with anything close to that amount of wear.

The state the OP is in has yearly inspections as well, and as far as I've dealt with they can be pretty strict! Probably once it passed emissions their buddy with a shop slapped a sticker on there.

Won't be long before the belts on that tire start failing.. So the good news is that car will (probably) see at least 1 new tire in the coming months.

As far as me and my cars go - if the tread gets down to 4/32, I start looking for new tires.
