GMs poor managment caused its problems. While the CEOs take MILLIONS.
Let whatever happens, happens.

I guess you got to wonder how many times they will come back to the USA and Canadian goverments for more money after this? Would the goverment loan or bail your business out if you were close to bankrupty? 100% zero chance of them helping you and I! Let them go into bankrupty and restructure...start over with lower wages including management!

I as others followed the talks in Washington.

Having done that I still wonder if the money is needed to support the UAW or the Auto Industry?

Without the UAW and lower wages no bailout is needed.

Pull the plug. All those workers will just have to learn a new job skill to get a new job. If GM got $100 billion dollars, within 5 years they will be begging for more money.

Do we really need GM ?????

Customers of the BIG-3 have voted with their wallets over the years, and they voted by putting their money into other Manufacturers pockets. If the BIG-3 were blind/deaf to this, then they deserve to go bankrupt because they weren't listening to their customers. That's a no-no in the business world.

When I say they weren't listening to their customers, I mean cheapening the quality of the product and thinking it's good enough to suffice. All this in order to meet the UAW's demands rather than putting their feet down and digging into the demands and telling them they can't in order to remain competitive.

Enough said. GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT BAILOUT!

Me I would give it to them. Even if it keeps them going for 6 more months its worth it. I'm not sure we could take a hit as big as one of them going down right now. In more healthy economy we could probably weather but not when stuff is the way it is right now.

I worked for a company that was suing a much larger competitor yet trying to be bought out by said competitor.

Our biggest argument was how much our subscribers were worth. Our company lawyers decided that bankruptcy court would determine that value much faster than any other court!

Bankruptcy would absolutely fix more of GM's problems faster for cheaper than any other option I could think of. They'd get an "X" dollar determination to pay for their pension obligations etc and remove much of the chance and indecision and worry that's gripping everyone.

Coincidentally a holding group bought my old company and it's business as usual. I got a letter offering me my old job and they were even nice enough to keep my old terms and perks.

So we should keep bailing them out, and keep delaying the inevitable and hope that it somehow corrects itself?

We should move on, take the consequences, let the markets rebound and learn from our mistakes...

Unions promote lazy inefficient work ethics and they need to go.

The UAW and it's worker keep crying because they know now they need to do real work like the rest of the world. (excluding some line workers as they earn their money).

Let them go into Bankruptcy.

...as long as I can use my GM card's bank'd up dollars for a new GM whenever in the future...

Bankrupt!!! I rather blame the Ceo and uppermanagement for every problem G.M. has as they make the busisness decisions not the workers. Every bankrupcy/bail out is due to management practices yet the management still get a reward for ripping the people off.

Off topic but...In Canada the government has to accept a little blame also. Years ago there was a act or whatever it was called that basically said ...overseas car companies selling cars in North America have to built 1 vehicle here for every 1 they sold here. Eventually they never renewed it. I don't know to what affect that had on the big 3 but maybe it hurt the bottom line?

Not blaming the workers. The UAW just got what they asked for. Can't blame them for trying either... It is Management that is the problem... So in order to meet the UAW demands they cheapened the quality of the vehicles thus creating inferior products and leaving bad tastes in customers mouths thus leading to bankruptcy.

The workers are somewhat lazy and overpaid I can't blame them I would be too if I had a union fighting to get me top dollars and protecting me from loosing my job due to poor performance.

I speak from experience. I have worked in a Big-3 parts warehouse and my dad worked for them for over 20 years...
