Trying to find premade pizza dough for use in an Ooni. Got some “fresh”dough balls in bags at Food Lion last night but just couldn’t stretch the balls out.

I’ve been making the dough for the past year but it’s too messy and time consuming to proof it.

Any suggestions?

We put our own ingredients in our bread machine and let it run to mix and proof the dough. We had the same issues with store bought dough as you. Its just one thing extra to clean and the dough is consistent.

ask your local pizza shop they'll usually sell you a blob of dough

I’ve been using mixer. What bread machine y’all using?

Supposedly since I’m cooking at 800-900 degrees, it takes a “special” dough formula.

In reality, if there is such a thing today, I don’t know how important that is??

My pizza is done in one 1 minute.

We have put together dough and just baked it right away, i know thats not best but it works.

We also have been using sunrise flour, its not brominated or bleached and we really like it. But its not cheap.

When our next order comes in, i might try making it ahead of time and see how it does.

@Gebo, how do you like your pizza oven?

The secret to easy to handle pizza dough is to use plain all purpose flour. Bread flour is higher in protein and it’s harder to get the dough to stretch and hold its form. Also, make your dough a day or two before making your pizza.

I like it a lot. My hardest part is getting the raw pizza onto the ceramic tray without spilling all the toppings. When I jerk to release it, I lose some pepperoni on the far end.

This is the flour we use.

Yeah. Safeway ok some Safeways have whole wheat and regular pizza dough in a bag. I put mine in a mixer with a dough hook and then let it sit. Oiled it then used a rolling pin and it turned out great

Gebo, if you have a Kroger close to you down there we usually get the fresh bagged dough over near the deli area where the premade pizzas are. That’s what we usually buy. Or whenever your up here just stop by one. I know the one closest to my house has it and I believe the others do too.

Do you have a food processor ? We've been making pizza and bread dough with a cuisinart for decades and it's easy and fast, but certainly doesn't skip the proof step.

Bottom end but acceptable in a pinch - Boboli if it's fresh. like a day old.
Unless you can get something from a deli made within a day you wont be satisfied with store bought.
