Pet peeves go in this post.

I don’t like the term “everything is negotiable.”

That’s usually code for “I’m about to try to screw someone over
Two of them. Both of them involve cell phones! Ugh. Ok, so you walk up to check out at the store and the cashier is talking to you and you can not comprehend "what on earth?" Only to realize that instead of greeting you or asking can they help you, they are too busy on their personal phone calls and not paying much attention to the job. Talking thru the ear muffs so you at first think they are talking to you! NOT.
The next Phone one. As of the last few years, all sorts of businesses and Doctors offices, etc... who we use have their employees calling to make business appointments or reminders etc on their personal cell phones. So when one gets these phone calls a lot of them can go unanswered because lots of folks (me too) will not answer when the caller ID can not ID the number owner. So, how many calls are being missed and things complicated by all the miscommunication from people not knowing it is someone calling they need to speak to?
I called a while back to troubleshoot my internet issues and the woman on the other end had to keep stopping because her kid was screaming in the background. This work from home stuff is getting out of hand.

My pet peeve is how front defroster vents in vehicles usually don't line up with the wipers, leaving part of the wiper blades to not get warmth from the defroster blown at it during cold, snowy weather.

Sure, for 99% of the people for 99% of the time this isn't an issue, but when conditions are just right this really sucks and the only solution is to stick your arm out the window to flick the wiper every few seconds.

When this happens, most people might think it's their wiper blades that suck, when in reality it's the vehicle designers.

Mine is medical appointments. First appointment is for meeting a doctor, second one is for talking about making the next appointment and on and on. It's a never ending cycle. Makes me want to come out of retirement and do nothing but electrical service calls at doctors offices. I would never fix the problem and do nothing but keep billing for the visits. Maybe even throw in a referral to a plumber and HVAC guy just so my buddies can get in on the action. 🤑

I like when the doctor’s office gets lippy with the “haven’t seen you in [insert timeframe”] Then you’re like “Uh, what are you talking about, I was just there a few months ago with a chest cold?” Then they follow up with the “I meant for your check up….”

Gimme a break. Acting like you’ve gone completely MIA or something.

Does this Tech smell like too much Speed Stick Musk?
I think he has potential. Just young and needs to realize we all work together. Simply using our parts requisition slips, writing down what he wants along with the RO number, I can go form there and figure it out.

Ford is also big on one time use only parts, like hardware or seals or fuel lines that are supposed to not be reused. Sometimes the parts catalog gives us a list, but usually you have to go line by line through the workshop manual to determine what is one time use. I can usually get that done fairly quick, especially if it is something like a 10R80 replacement since we have done so many. Techs feel it is parts department's job because "parts looks up parts" while some people want a list from the tech because they are the ones working on the car. I just go with the flow usually because the more I sell, the higher my commission is come payday.

On the 2011 Buick Enclave, I wanted one on the lot, with film still on the hood and it had the standard 19" rims. Already knowing what I wanted to pay ($500 less than the last dealer when they didn't counter)....the salesman said, "Do I deserve to make any money on this deal?" He started to unfold a 3-ring binder. I said, "Let's not do that." So he put the binder back.

I told the Chevy sales manager about it in May, and she laughed and responded, "No, you do not." Prolly she trains her staff to do and say that lol which is why it was funny to her.

I could decline all the packages and warranties in one fell swoop on an iPad Pro here in August 2025. Wonder what new fangled sales processes will be in place in 2040 when we buy our next new car? Maybe they'll accept strange and mysterious outside financing at that time (nobody since 1998 has, across 4 new cars).

Mumblers. People who refuse to to speak loud enough to be understood. You can hear them, barely. But you sure can't understand them.

You try to be polite - I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you - Could you repeat that? - My hearing isn't so great, say again. And all they do is mumble again with zero effort to speak up. 😣

And "while looking the other way or speaking into a drawer."

The other thing is only repeating the end of the sentence. I heard the end just fine, it's the beginning I didn't hear.

How about when you’re parking your car far away, to avoid door dings, and some huge honking larger than life 8 cyl 14 mpg SUV backs in right next to you?!

The irony is when you realize you have the same vehicle 🤦‍♂️

Poor manners, and poor or lazy English.
Men walking in or out of doors in public, letting their wives or other ladies walk in behind them.
Not holding the door open and letting their wives, daughters enter/exit.

Ball caps/hats worn at the table while eating.

Poor english, statements of "me and John " instead of "John and I."

Phrases like " be like, true that" etc.

Rims, sounds low IQ. Rims are part of a wheel.

When a cashier does not thank me for a purchase. So I will often than say thank you and usually got a response like No Problem. Gosh I'm glad to know I wasn't causing them a problem.

How about the famous : "I can let you have it today ONLY at this price. If you leave and do not buy now, I can not offer you the same price after today!" About then is when we all should tell them. "Well , you know what, tomorrow I will just find me another couple places who are not playing the today only game. Bye Bye."
I don’t do Amazon - so on top of Walmart - I wind up on eBay often.
Just amazing how many “one left” items are on there LoL …

My pet peeve is my wife. " It's just an oil change ! You're not done yet ?!?! " It's never just an oil change, it's encompasses everything while the hood is open, the serpentine belt, look for any leaks, check air filter, check tire pressure, check CAF, lube hinges and locks, lube window tracks, check ATF, etc......... She's a gas and go person, can't stand those people !!!! So I tell her to take it to the quik lube and pay for it...Then she shuts up...

For me, today's entrant is the USPS. Normally I'm a fan-boy but when they mess up, they *really* mess up.

I'm waiting on a package that's been "in transit to destination" for over a week. During that time it's gone from NJ to GA, back to NJ, then back to GA, ad nauseum. I think it's more of a computer issue because the package will show a time in one location and then show that it was scanned in the other location an hour later - unless they are using the Concorde, I don't see making the trip in an hour.

But long story short, I still don't have my package.

My wife gets like that sometimes. Anytime she does I’ll just say “Oh, do you want to do this? You’re more than welcome to take over this chore for me.”

She gets the hint after that and usually laughs and says “no, I’m good” because I always say it lighthearted.
