Methy Mike and the Sketchy Bunch

Not that it's going to do much good, but Mr. Meth will now be on candid camera (unfortunately the board reduces the image quality, this is a 4K camera):

All those that say move. Its Canada and its pretty much live near an urban center with soul crushing housing expenses or live in the middle of nowhere and be a farmer or have no job.

And most police forces in Ontario area dont want to do their job, you can call them and tell them about people abducting women and they wont get off their lazy ass.

I'd have to move into the country, which has some disadvantages in terms of conveniences we presently enjoy, but I have considered it. Presently, we are a few blocks from my (aging) parents, which is something kept in mind due to health (and other) emergencies. I aided my dad with installing cameras around their generous triple-lot for the same reason, they've had things stolen out of their driveway (my son had his tools stolen out of the back of the Ranger when it was stored at their place), this is truly a universal problem no matter where you reside.
I've got it on good authority that there are plenty of meth heads and such in the sticks as well. This problem is the kind of problem that moving only solves temporarily.

I feel for you city folks. When I visit metro areas, very occasionally, I always worry about some jackwagon breaking in. Usually it's a shopping trip, back to school etc, so we do have valuables in it.
Back home however in the sticks, keys are left in the ignition in the yard. Suppose it's possible someone would wander up the driveway someday, but 20 years and no issues.

Do you visit often? It's not generally that bad, but I do think the OPP/politicians have a bit of a lax attitude to organized crime? Worse than Buffalo, or other places, I don't know. I'm quite sure its better than a lot of places, but there's room for improvement IMO. Criminal on criminal crime is almost all the real dramatic stuff you would hear about, but I think the police should dig right in on those too.

My Buffalo story, is that is the first and I think only place I've seen an armed guard at a fast food place, and that was 15 years ago. But its not a bad place overall.

I do see more grocery stores in the odd city here with security, but its not super common. I'm pretty sure if anyone tried to run out of our local grocery store stealing something, they would get collared by someone.

I visit quite often, well not so much last two years. Hamilton police did not want to do their job despite multiple complaints of attempted kidnappings.
Yeah Buffalo is terrible. NY has rampant property crime.

We had a guy spun out on something in our shop last Friday. He was yelling at nobody there and paranoid saying there were too many people to fight.

We finally got him outside and shut the doors till he left. So far those are only in town and have not made their way to my house as far as I know.

That's likely a good thing for them. If threatened at my house I might not be so nice.

They wander into my work sometimes and it is always an adventure. Last one was wanting wiring pictures, no diagrams, but actual pictures of the harness. For his Econoline that wouldn't start and he was convinced there was a problem with the PATS system. Was even more confused when I told him his van didn't have PATS, no transceiver in the column so no PATS.

We had another one camping out in the customer waiting room with his dog all day a few weeks ago. Everyone assumed he had a vehicle in service. Nope, turns out he had the dilapidated Econoline based RV that was taking up a bunch of employee parking on the street by us and it was towed. Our delivery driver found him passed out on the service drive the next morning.

I can't comment on law enforcement in Ontario, but here in Winnipeg the police take a lot of flak from the legacy media when try to do their job.

It must be very frustrating to be a LEO here.
