Well Iams did kill hundreds of cats and dogs not too long ago by skimping on quality and buying poisoned chinese rice protien, so yeah, they kind of [censored] the bed in the quality department.
You can feed your dog that [censored] and take your chances, same as throwing an OCOD on your car :)

And which brand do you rep? For those interested in the facts, most of the brands of canned and semimoist dog foods were recalled a couple of years ago. This included not only the common brands, but many of the premium ones too. Some brands escaped the recall only because they don't sell a canned food. The only dry kibbles that were recalled, were the premium brands. Neither Iams nor the other common brands of dry kibble were recalled or involved in the deaths.

I find it highly misleading to bash Iams like that.

No premium brands on the Menu Foods list buddy, just the bottom of the barrel [censored]. Iams has ALWAYS been [censored] food, they just charged more for it so people thought it was premium. I'm baffled why people would ever buy that stuff again after what they did. Just like oil filters, there is cheap garbage scrap people should stay away from, and there is stuff that is a good bang for your buck.
Anyway, this is an oil filter forum, so back on topic. Fram sucks. :)

You know I forgot all about the Iams deal. They did have that Melamine [censored] in it from China, and had to be recalled. Looks like the original posted Iams analogy didn't work out so well.

Or was that sarcasm?

Now as for the second regarding the orange can, close.

Good catch.

Iams deal? Iams principally produces dry kibble, none of which was ever recalled. It was a canned food deal, and nearly all the brands of canned food were recalled. Maybe all of them. Certainly many of the premium brands that did have a canned product along with some of their dry kibbles. Then a year ago you had dogs eating Nutro and dieing and Nutro stonewalling the problem and refusing to recall it.

LOL. Who cares what type? I don't. Iams had it's dog food recalled for melamine just like I said, and no backpedaling or spinning will change that.

So the second analogy of Iams to the orange can seems most apt.

So you can see there were a few others including many of premium brands.

There is a link on that site to a more detailed list of just which products were recalled. You will not find any of the Iams, Purina, or Science Diet dry kibbles on the detailed list. You are presenting a very distorted picture. I haven't trusted anything you post for a long time.

Take the pet food talk to PM

My cat likes Meow Mix best, but oddly she doesn't seem to care what brand of oil filter I use on my car. If only there was a message board where such things could be discussed...

I totally agree with you, just consider the source of the tedious inane copy and paste.

And, when it's not some off topic oil filter ownership agenda, it's some vapid oil filter dog food comparison.

And so it goes.....

I have locked this thread. I am sending a warning to all that are involved that insulting other members and hijacking threads can result in time away from the board.

IME there are only a small number of producers who actually make all the dog food for the various brands. I know that the Andersons in Ohio bags Purina and Diamond and many other brands at their plants. Or at least they use to back in the seventies. Is this practice still used today?

Meh, I do not buy Frams for my cars. My daughter, despite my warnings re Frams , one stops her shopping for the oil + filter. Dino Valvoline 5w30 and a Fram for her 06 'Rolla. Just about to hit 100k miles , no issues. I do the oil changes when she gets me the stuff, ~ 5K OCI.
I dont have a dog ,yet, but I have 2 old cats. I have sworn off all Chinese food products for all of us.
