I picked up 7 Quarts of Pennzoil 20w50 at Napa recently for 3.79 a quart, my old bimmer takes about 6.1 quarts. Thinking of going for a mix of four quarts of 20w50 to two PP 10w30s Thinking of running a 3750+ oci with this possibly.

Kind of conflicted because on one hand I feel this is a good idea for good cleaning properties of PP, but also concerned it would dilute viscosity too much for the engine. 15W40 is lowest viscosity I run since Louisiana winter isn't all that cold typically, but it runs very well. Looking for input on if this would be as thick or thinner than 15w40 at a 4/2 20w50 to 10w30 mix, I forget how to calculate those figures.

Thanks.

I don't think that's how it works

why not? don't they just mix when the oil pump circulates it all around?

Obviously yes. I'm alluding to the fact that there is no such thing as 16.7W43.3 oil. It's either a 50 or 40.

Technically, those odd viscosity numbers do not really exist, but anyone can see the idea that is conveyed here. With ease.
