Just very hard working since I was 15 years old and never given anything.

I never did ask why the black guys in the Air Force were telling jokes using the N word. I just chuckled and walked away. So did others that thought it was strange blacks were telling jokes about blacks.

like the other guy said. you have a shockingly low level of cognitive function

After reading this thread i don't think it i know it.
Go to any German bakery in Bavaria and ask for a N word Kuss and you will get a nice small cookie cake, its an accepted word and they could care less what you think.
Quote:
If you're offended by the word Negerkuss, though, you won't make it long in Germany. German and European restaurants and bar owners display an overwhelming affinity for politically incorrect sculptures of happy black Sambos and Sambettes just a shuckin' and a jivin' their little Hottentot hearts out. I have developed a theory that in the early 1970s, when displaying these problematic pieces of folk art became an invitation to a riot in the U.S., secret mass shipments of contained after container of politically incorrect sculptures were sent to Continental Europe. I collect instances of these sculptures. Here is by far the most impressive specimen I've ever seen, from a hotel in Essen, Germany. And yes, they put a fresh copy of the racing form in his hand every morning:

I have 2 lawn jockeys and a lawn jockey shoe shine polisher, does that make me a racist?

A few years ago a modified a lawn jockey and put it on a shoe shine machine, you hit the jockey on the top of its hat to start and stop the machine.
My friend who owns a nice restaurant liked it so much he asked me to make him one which he put right in the doorway of his restaurant, people loved it and laughed their behinds off.
The only ones to feign outrage were you guessed it American tourist. My god the way they carried on you would think i hung it from a tree on MLK day.

A lot of people recognize this as a shakedown. But I will say that She has a big mouth. And continuing to run her mouth has made bad matters worse.

I think she did something to get the manager of the network angry.

Martin calls Zimerman a "creepy [censored] cracker" but Zimmerman is still portrayed as the racist. Crazy times.

People with thier feigned offense are the problem, not the Paula Deen's of the world.

I just saw story how here cookbook sales are through the roof. Good For Her!

One of the most common sense posts in this entire ridiculous thread. Well said.

I am surprised this thread has been allowed to continue with the insults being hurled around and the language. Very un BITOG like.

I'm like many others on here. It is a free country. Paula can say whatever she wants. Free speech is protected here, regardless of whether we agree with what is said.

If she was discriminating and hiring and firing people based on race, that IS a problem.

Right. Not only that but if some of the folks on here trashing her had actually watched any of her shows they would know she is not racist. She has had many( I will be PC here )african-americans on and she treats them with nothing but respect and kindness. Even going so far as to hug and or kiss them. Hardly the act of a racist bigot as she is being betrayed. If she was truly like that she wouldn't treat the people like that even for her show. No one is that good of an actor.

They should go look up the episode where she has the famous "biscuit lady" on from a well known southern restaurant( loveless cafe I "think " ). Watch how she treats and interacts with her( she is a black woman )and then tell me she is a racist. They were making pie as I recall( I am going to try and find it ).

Just ridiculous that something someone said so many years ago can be held against them soo strongly today. People can grow and change.

EDIT - Food Network has apparantly pulled the video episode down. You can get to the page but no video. Figures.

Yup, and people are free to flock to everything she endorses like her merchandise, cruises, etc. Paula's sales are skyrocketing right now and good for her! I'm glad to see people out there can back her constitutionally protected rights.

I don't get how that term is "PC." I know several people actually from africa. about 7 out of 10 of those people are "white" in appearance. The term "african-american" completely baffles me unless white people from africa aren't considered good enough to be from africa.

Also, black, white, etc. are just adjectives. I was recently at a conference for work where I was the only white guy there. When people were discussing me, they'd say things like "have you met Bob (fake name for me)?" and the other person would be like, "who?" and then the reply would be, "the white guy over there."

Did that bother me? [censored] no. It was an easy identifier for me. If they had said the average sized guy with brown hair and brown eyes, nobody would have had a clue.

"white guy" is equivalent to the N word. lol

I post something about Shell oil company a few years back and I promptly received a PM and my post was deleted. Insults are thrown on this thread and it's still moving...Very true statement. I haven't been on this thread in some time...especially when a member here stated he used the N work quite frequently. When did this thread turn into a black vs. white deal??? Last I recall, this lawsuit was brought up by a white woman, (which people are assuming she is doing this to get money from Paula) not a black woman or man. So why not bash her? I haven't seen anything on tv where black people are screaming for her to lose her job or sponsors. I haven’t seen any petitions on tv from blacks demanding that she lose everything. If you have any examples please post. If not, your bigotry is the only reason why you post here. Heck Al Sharpton (of all people) even said that she doesn't deserve the backlash. Of course she is going to make blacks upset with what she said based on history of that word, also being that she just said a couple of years ago (2007/2008) that she wanted a "southern" wedding for her brother, but was afraid of media backlash. For [censored] sakes, he has a Black following, she has Black fans who were shocked to know she said these things, past and present. Who has that mindset in 2007/08?? And btw, where was she going to get black men/boys to sign up to be a part of that freak show; good luck?? She has been attacked my more tv shows vs. blacks being "up in arms" demanding she be fired and lose all of her sponsors.

You can’t see why people are offended? Then you’re missing basic, normal perception and empathy.
Very true, based on posts this board, only blacks are upset. So I can assume that white who have black friends, never been raised to hate other races based on race, CAN’T find this disturbing or be offended by what Paula said, only hypocrite blacks huh?? Instead it’s an attack on blacks and their “PC” liberal standards even though Paula stated out her own mouth that she doesn’t feel bad when her husband or family members use the word. Makes sense she wanted a slave wedding in 2008. Some people here are disgusting, along with BITOG who allows this to keep going. BTW, you are a fool if you think that all blacks “agree” with what rappers say in their songs. You are a fool if you think all blacks call each other the “N” word. Get your head out your a$$, stop looking at t.v. and meet some who are educated, not the thugs you see running around on tv or street corner. Stereotyping to the fullest.

It seems funny that some people on here don’t have a problem with what she said years ago, but some of these same people bash our President based on a church he went to years ago and hold the President accountable for words the pastor stated…Now does that make any sense?!? Maybe if I post about a political figure, maybe it will activate some filter to lock this useless thread. Well it was useful because it gave me a lot of insight on where certain members really stand. I now don't feel bad for not going to the BITOG meet and greet awhile back.

YES.

That's just a word, no need to get upset and bitter someone said a word....

Wow, just wow! So I guess you will be totally ok with a total stranger calling your mother, sister, daughter, wife a stupid (bit*h/female dog) while you are with them and you would just walk away smiling, tuck your tail between your legs saying “it’s just a word, not need for you to be upset, even though it’s a derogatory term”. Cool to know that. You sir are not a man; she married a coward. Btw, you shouldn’t get upset because the term coward is just a word. Don’t get bitter or upset. I wish someone would disrespect my family in front of me. This would be a major problem and corrected swiftly.

This proves my other point. So you run into a few idiots who use the word in music or when speaking to each other, you think that it’s ok to generalize the whole race to feel that it’s ok? So based on the t.v. show To Catch a Predator and the race that’s typically shown/caught always trying to have sex with underage girls/boys….guess it will be ok for me to generalize that most white men like sex with underage girls/boys. Come on guy. You can’t be serious right now. That would be stupid of me, but based on your statement, that would be acceptable of me. Please, don’t let me use the material that’s in heavy metal music to base assumptions on…

Isn't it amusing how we, Caucasians, are often portrayed as having some sort of advantage...or 'privilege' because of our skin color? It's like some sort of jealousy or hatred because we have worked very hard and reached certain goals in our lives. My father wasn't 'privileged'....nor was my mother (worked at hard jobs since she was 15 to support her family...then raised one of her own and continued to work hard with no rest until she died of heart failure at 54). My grandfather started out in a small eastern town with next to nothing. He worked himself into various jobs and even became a master carpenter, the town florist, and eventually came out west at wrote technical manuals for the Boeing Company while building his own home. This disgusting GARBAGE about white people being 'privileged' doesn't work with me and certainly doesn't apply to any white person I know of. I think saying Caucasian's are 'privileged' is an excuse for lazy, under achievers to attach to those that actually have a work ethic and don't cry about silly excuses like skin color. I can't tell you how many times when I was starting out that if I would have had 'color' to my skin, I would have gotten a break at being hired and/or had job training opportunities. But because I was white, I was brushed off as not worthy. Did I cry like a baby? No. I kept at it and eventually made something of myself by working hard. Now I am were I want to be financially....yet see the lazy whiners (and supporters of such) calling people like me 'privileged'.
What joke.

Disagree. Words have a defined meaning - that's the essence of a common language.

Allowing one group privileged use of a defamatory word is just enabling bad behavior and creating a double standard that should be unacceptable to anyone of normal cognitive function.

Who cares what the people howling for her scalp think. Paula Deen should quit apologizing to these losers. These people can never be appeased. They live to be outraged - it's their bread and butter. She should take her marbles somewhere else and put a dent in Food Network's business.

But I suppose feigned outrage over an archaic word beats dealing with real problems, like crushing foreign debt, crippling entitlements, domestic spying, rampant illegal immigration, and corrupt government, like a full house beats two of a kind.

This country is soft with a capital S, it's really becoming an embarrassment. Used to be, people had thick skins, and for a reason. Results were expected, not excuses. Children were taught the nursery rhyme about sticks and stones and names for a reason.

I can't believe I've wasted five minutes of my life on this kind of baloney.
