He never got wrapped up in the Hollywood nonsense that others do. Founded Newman's Own company which donates all profits to charitable causes (over 250 million USD) Also founded the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a free of charge camp for ill children. A true philanthropist.

That's really sad. He seemed like a great person. It's rare these days to see someone with a strong enough will to not get caught up in the Hollywood [censored].

Met him once at a CART race.

Really a nice guy and don't ask him for his autograph. We were talking about Michael Andretti(sp) and a guy came up and asked, he refused to sign the guys hat. Was nice about it (in a way).

Really sad. At least he walked the walk about stuff and a class act. Something that is missing with todays Hollywood idiots.

I was surprised that I didn't find the news of Paul Newman in this forum.

Too many economists, I guess?

Well, Paul has brought a lot of smiles to my face over the years. Are there any movies today that are the caliber of some of his finest?

Where was "SLAPSHOT" on the list of greatest films of all time?

I hope to meet this guy in the next life. G0D bless you guy, you were a mensch.

Another good guy is gone

That is an understatement.....Great actor and humanitarian.

I have bought a my share of "Newmans Own" stuff. I believe he will be in a better place.

We have several topics concerning Paul Newman and I am combining them in one. He will be missed because he was a great actor and philanthropist. I always enjoyed his movies.

I'm pouring out a bottle of salad dressing in his memory...

Seriously, though. Road to Perdition, Cool Hand Luke, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids. What an actor. RIP.

Paul Newman was one of the last real movie stars. He started as a
young male lead, a pretty boy, but had sense enough to realize that wouldn't last, and had ambition to do better. H e took acting chances, playing a Mexican bandit in "The Outrage," a washed-up prizefighter in "Hemingway's Adventures as a Young Man," and more. He aged gracefully, and (particularly odd for Hollywood, where marriages last about as long as mayflies do) remained married to Joanne Woodward for something like 50 years.

A lot of young actors today would do well to emulate him.
