Hey guys. For the sake of simplifying my oil stock and everyone running 5k OCI's that I take care of (5 cars), what would you recomend:

5w30 Conv Valvoline(SM), YB Pennzoil(SM), Mobil 5000(SM/CF).

We all run 5w30. All are on a 5k OCI. Which do you guys think is the better/best pick of the 3? I have been running PP in some cars.. but the cost is gettin out of hand for 5k oci's.

Whatever is the cheapest. With the amount you need, you might want to look into going to a distributor or Costco, and buying oil by the case or small tote/drum (something like 20L).

Ooooh, if you live near a Farm and Fleet I think you can get valvoline for ~1.39 a qt. So then it's a no brainer.

Otherwise I'd just get a bunch of 5qt jugs of whatever of those three is cheapest.

You actually have it pretty nice. I need 5w-20 for my Accord, 5w30 for my Highlander and 10w-40 for my motorcycle. What a pain, but a labor of love as well. Worse yet, both cars take the exact same filter, but with different threads!

If the cost is the same, I'd give a slight edge to the YB.

But the reality is that you're very likely to find any of the three on sale upon occasion. The performance difference is not near as clear as a sale price difference.

Your wallet will see the distinction long before the engine does.

V6 tacoma, 4cyl Suzuki, and 6cyl Lexus, Subaru. SO I guess whatever I can get on sale out of the ones listed. So far Wally is the cheapst not on sale. I might look at Costco or Sams club and look into buying cases to have on hand.

As for the filters all cars are running (white) Purolators. I think it's the best bang for the buck middle of the road filter. My Tacoma is running a FL400S MC. Seems to be the best option I can find. I don't feel comfortable running STP/Supertechs; never used one before.. maybe I should buy one to cut open.

With this many cars and them never getting neglected or raced it's hard justifying $23/5qt oil when you can get $12 or $12/5qt oil. And down here in South FL, we don't have much cold weather.

I was leary of super tech filters too,but after some reading and research they are a darn good filter.

I wonder what my local wally world is charging for them. I'm getting Purolators for $3.09. I might hack a supertech open for grins.

It has been a while since I cut any open, but I never saw much difference except the string. Since ST dropped the 3950, I may not be buying any. My truck saw is last PH 3950 a long time ago.

Y.B .... 5000 miles does not buying you anything for the $$$ spent on syn oils. The air filter and well sealed intake plumbing is way more important. I have run supertech they are like any other Champ filter in the same price range.

Supertech are decent filters. They are most times just rebadged Puralators. Every oil that has been mentioned here is worthwhile. I've run Supertech oil in a family car and it was fine for 4-5k miles. This might be a long shot but see if any Advance Auto Parts are having grand openings in your area. I know they usually sell their house brand motor oil for around $4 a gallon..

You might want to do a little research before saying this.

Whichever of the three is on sale. Buy lots of it and never look back

Filters, I don't know who makes the supertech filters, but I've heard good things about them, along with Purolators and Wix. Any of them will work just fine.
