Oil Filters: WIX, Pure One or ???

Unless the filter comes apart the choice of filter isn't worth the thought . The air cleaner and its seal [as well as the intake tract] is the filter to worry about.

You are really trying to stir the pot aren't you? LOL you are going to see some harsh arguments both ways about which one is better but I think the smartest answer is that (for the moment anyways) they are both really good and you car will not notice any difference.

PureOne and Wix are both solid filters. I use PureOnes, I buy a few when they have a rebate on them and use them up the rest of the year

+1.....use them (PureOne's) with most synthetic oils and OCI of 7K to 8K. IMO...PureOne's are the "best bang for your buck".

But for long OCI's (such as I'm doing now)...I use a Mobil 1 EP filters.

Between WIX (or NAPA Gold) and PureOne ... I'd choose the PureOne.

PureOne has:
More media area for same application (because of base bypass valve on the WIX).
Better filtering performance.
PureOne might be cheaper cost in most cases.

Here, I have no choice. No PureOnes are available. NAPA up here isn't always great on their filter prices. I get my Wix 51515s for $5, though, so it's either that or an FL1A.

It depends on the application IMO. Tell us more.

I used many different brand oil filter in my +250k LS400 for 1 year/13-14k miles without problems, never paid more than $4 for any of them. From MC FL400S to Bosch Premium to Purolator Classic to Fram then Proline. Never used Wix nor nor M1 nor P1 nor K&N ...

Wix is all I use

I second Malo83 reply. I can get a case of WIX 51356 for my 03' CIVIC LX 4 dr, for like 77$. Just received my case of em' last night and I get them from a mom and pop store in Punxsutawney area where I am from. I think thats a good deal. My dad got a case of WIX' for his 01' dakota, 3.9 v-6 for 83$

Can't go wrong with either. However, I prefer P1 because,

Readily available at Advance and Kmart
Lately been getting them for as low as ~$3-3.50 with AAP online codes, huge discount from the ~$5-6.50 at Kmart and AAP. Also, often a part of oil/filter combo promo deals at AAP.
As shown here in some applications the P1 has substantially more media, eg., see Bill in Utah oil filter thread for his Subaru comparing the Wix and P1 media area.
And, I really like the texture for hand tightening installation.

But, both solid, take your pick.

2000 Buick Lesabre 3800 Series II with a paltry 293,000 kms.
Engine is super clean inside and burn no oil whatsoever between OCI's. Just looking to continue the trouble free motoring the previous owner had.
