Hey Folks,
A few quick questions. I'll be coming up to the 1000mile cleaning phase of the Auto-rx treatment on my two cars.
Do I do an oil analysis on this oil or should I wait until after the rinsing phase?
And I live in Canada, how do I get an oil analysis done? Any trouble shipping oil through customs? What's the process for Canadians?
Thanks a mint

Which part of Canada are you from? Patman hooked me up with a place that I"m waiting for a response to get it done in Mississauga.

EDIT: IMO I would wait till the cleanin phase is done.. probably even after 1 more oil change after the "Recommended" oil rinse cycle to ensure that none of the cleaners are in there to contiminate the readings

I'd wait until after the rinse phase, but I actually recall a few mid-RX UOAs where the auto-RX really... didn't seem to be changing anything in the UOA.
It doesn't seem customs is a problem. I've seen quite a few Canadian UOAs come out of Blackstone labs.

You probably won't gain a whole lot by doing a UOA in the middle of an ARX cycle. I don't believe ARX won't really show up in the UOA. It didn't in any of mine so far.

I wouldnt do a UOA during cleaning, rinsing, etc.

I believe that the rinse phase skewed my UOA reading on my truck. Just my thoughts though, based upon how the numbers came out.

I use wear check. They have USA offices and Canadian offices.

I think its www.wearcheck.ca

My 3300 mile cleaning phase UOA was boring.

13 ppm silicon, 12 sodium, 17 iron, and 4 alum.

Nothing exciting.....

So imagine what a 1000 or 1500 mile UOA would look like....more boring.

But at least I didn't get an insane wear from the double long cleaning phase (of course, this was the 2nd clean phase).

It looks like WearCheck is not geared to private individuals doing just one or two cars. Everything I saw on their site was for larger operations.

They nevertheless provide their services to individuals and they are actually very good service-wise. They are very fast, their reps are very friendly and they host your results in their web-based maintenance tracking system, regardless of numbers of cars you have.

I interpret lots of wearcheck raw data because they are handy for the BITOG CANUCKS , but I prefer to assist those who assist BITOG and get all this neat format and data to share.

Try a site sponsor before heading elsewhere.

Blackstone and Butler offer really high quality products and support BITOG forums.

I know a good analyst to interpret that data too, no matter where it comes from, and has lots of experience with auto-rx.

You can definitely buy single kits from them for your car's oil analysis. But your best deal is if you buy a box of 12, then you save $10 per kit! I've been using Wearcheck Canada for a couple of years now and am very impressed with their speedy service.
