Not sure what's happening here. There are certain areas of my home where I can definitely hear where water is running through the pipes, especially if our washing machine is using water. It's more or less a continuous noise when there is water flowing. I couldn't figure out what was causing it since nothing was running. I checked our toilets, water heater, washing machine, and all faucets. Also all the outside faucets. Just in case I shut off the water heater and the gas to the gas dryer.
I haven't touched the main plumbing in a while and got into the crawl space until I remember that the main water shutoff was outside. I shut it off but was still hearing the sound. So I opened one of the faucets, the water came out at a trickle, and the noise went away. I shut off the faucet and the noice came back. So it is the water and not gas.
I was just worried that something was using lots of water, but I don't think that's happening. At this point it's just annoying. Any ideas?
