For those of you who have a Nikon Buckmaster rifle scope...I was just wondering what you thought of them? I have always used Leupold scopes myself and like them a lot. But my nephew is looking to replace his old Redfield scope with either a Nikon or the Leupold. Because of the price difference he is leaning towards a Nikon. Since I have no experience with these scopes I am asking for your options.

Thanks, Griz95

Good scopes if you get one built in the last few years.

When they first came out, excellent optics that would shoot out of zero EVERY shot.

They have fixed that!

Take care, Bill

What he said. Nice optics for the money!

I have a Nikon Pro-Staff 3-9x40 that I purchased a year ago for my Marlin XL7 in 30-06 and I am extremely happy with its brightness, clarity, and optics. Even came with the bullet drop compensator.

I bought mine off Ebay for 145 bucks brand new.

For what it is worth my dad bought a Weatherby rifle and a leupold scope in the early 1960s and in 1995 I took out the rifle to shoot it and noticed the coating on the optic was peeling . I called Leopold and told them the story and that I had no reciept. The guy at Leupold said we warranty it for life so send it in. I did and it was repaired and returned really quick.

I have Nikon Omega scopes on both my inlines and I like them very much. They seem to be better in low light than my Leupold scopes. The BDC works well as long as I use the suggested loads, and a laser range finder.

If dollars and cents weren't an issue...I would go with Leupold just because of their outstanding warranty. It has been my experience they will repair anything even if it wasn't their workmanship that caused the problem. That said it is hard to pass up a Nikon knowing their optic is top notch.
