Yeah, really. What else can we do to make it more difficult for new members to join this community? If new members are a problem, let's just close the registration booth.

Thank you for the suggestion. We tried that, but found it a little too draconian.

I suggest we introduce FEE (Forum Entry Exams) as a requirement for pre-membership qualification. Basic reeding, riding and 'rithmadick skills should be mandatory.

Also, what exactly is a "track record". Does that mean a specific post count?

In general, you can expect a new member to graduate to full member status once they have made 50 (responsible) posts and attained the Group II Member level. I use the qualifier "in general" and "responsible" because someone who fills the New Member Forum up with a bunch of nonsense and drivel just to get past 50 posts isn't going anywhere.

For all intensive purposes, it should be retroactivative, supposively.

I realize I've been mostly offering criticism and no good solutions of my own. I guess we won't know how this new preschool works out and affects membership until we give it a try. I know you are just trying to help. Let's hope for the best.

Slight dilemma there. I'm ALL for the new Member Forum, but FIFTY posts ALL in the single Forum seems excessive. As it is now, noobs would have to linger on that Forum and answer other's questions for quite some time. Sure, eventually the New Member Forum will fill up with more and better posts, and the final tally of fifty posts in the NMF will be easier to attain. Also, I don't think it will be necessary to move post rom the NMF to other areas. Likely, there will be good & informatative posts there, but people will need to just search that Forum too for subjects of particular interest. The NMF should have an easily accessed Search tab or link in a thread. As for the OT Forum, I dunno if newer members should be allowed in there or banned from there extra long. lol. The NMF is a good idea and a necessity....a must-have.

AU, 50 posts in one forum, but those posts can be originated in any forum. The first topic thread was started in the Oil forum. If the topic starts in a different forum, it's not as big a deal IMO. It's more work for the board admins to manage all this however.

No, they can't. For new members, ALL their posts will be in the New Member forum. They can't post anywhere else.

And please keep in mind the 50 posts is not a hard and fast rule. If someone shows that they are a responsible poster with less posts, they will graduate. It's that simple. Conversely, some may never graduate.

So. Do I read right that in order to become a member of bitog one has to go to the noobie forum only and post 50 responsible post to become a member?

No comprendo.

I don't get it. You're forcing them to ask oil-related questions in that forum even though we have 40 other specific subforums where those questions should be placed? Are you planning on moving all those posts manually to the respective subforums where most senior users will be able to provide responses?

Typically, noobs don't ask meaningful questions. Reading through many posts by Molakule in the technical threads and such from years gone by will teach folks much more than many are willing to learn. Their posts probably won't have to be moved anywhere. I believe it can alleviate the plethora of wasteful posts we have now. A minimized forum is much easier to search as well.

BTW, it was a great solution for the recurring registration of banned members.

A new member just registered so that he can post a UOA. It would be nice if it could be moved to the UOA section.
