New Crossover

A mid-trim Mazda CX-30 was available locally new at a good price. Nice vinyl interior, comfortable.
But fiddly HVAC controls, also the design has VERY high beltline and small windows. you could never put your arm on the window sill.
Very bunker like and claustrophobia inducing for us. Too bad, you get the 2.5L engine.
Another thing, it's not a Made in Japan car. it was a vin #3 build.
Wife said NO!
Then, we went a couple miles to a major Subaru dealer in Newington. they had about three new cars on the lot!

She's done car shopping for now unless I can get her to look at a Made in Japan Mitsu Outlander Sport

Unfortunately we may be forced into buying a new crossover. Long story short, a completely avoidable accident wasn't avoided and we're teetering on the edge of the CX-5 being considered a total. The contenders are the following; 2020+ CX-5, 2018+ Q3, 2018+ F-Pace. Looking to stay under the $40k mark, what would you check out? Priorities are road noise, agility, and daily practicality.
Add the Stelvio, aince reliability isnt a factor.
