Guys-
In my never ending effort to find the perfect deal, came across Oreilly Automotive and they carry Full Syn Motorcraft for 6.99 a qusrt. Now, this aint cheap, but I was going to buy Royal Purple at Walmart for 6.87 for the new 2010 Taurus SHO. I felt the MotorCraft was a better choice instead of the Royal Purple. Now I get a 10 percent discount from WM because I am a retiree, which puts it down to about 6.20 with tax. Problem is that not all WalMarts carry the RP, (it is a store special order item, they carry it if they wish). Mobil 1 EP is 26 bucks for 5 qts.
Just excited to get the full syn Motocraft without going to the dealership and paying 7.99 qt. My experience with Mobil 1 has been great, ran it in a V6 mustang, put 90K on it, inside the valvecovers was spotless. Running it in a 90K Ford Expedition, again perfect. Motors in both sounded brand new on start up. I run the RP in my 98 Cobra, no issues at all. I like RP, maybe its the color, or the fact they have a great promtional program with a lot of emphasis on HP gains. On the 2010 SHO, I am un comfortable with the turbos, and Ford Motorcraft is a great product, and meets all the warranty requirements. RP is not really certified for turbo applications. If I am wrong, someone help me....
What's the verdict?
RP, Mobil 1, or the Full Syn Motorcraft?

Well Kendall GT-1 full syn is the same as motorcraft and it a much better value at about 4.99 a qt.

RP have more antiwear additives, the GF4 MCFS is limited by ILSAC to only .08% phos. What weight does that turbo monster take? And be sure to leave that factory oil in at least 1K miles. For a turbo I would be looking at Redline oils, period.

M1 5-30 meets the Honda HTO spec for turbos. Most oils don't meet that spec to my knowledge.

If you want to mention that spec, do be fair and write what you and most regular BITOGers already know. Two well-known engine oils meet Honda HTO-06:
- Mobil 1 5w30
- Pennzoil Platinum 5w30

You are correct.

The SHO needs 5-20 oil.
Thanks for the ideas.
Thought about Redline, but availability sucks, hard to find in SW Missouri.

My memory is a little fuzzy but I could swear I saw it in AAP yesterday for $4.99/qt. You might want to have a look, if you have you near you.

RP is a great oil and would work very well in your 2010 SHO. However, it will not meet warranty requirements for your vehicle as it is only API SL certified. If that does not bother you then it will work just fine.

I agree with the other poster who mentioned the Kendall GT1. Basically the same stuff as the MTC and it is $4.99 a qt( PepBoys ). Penzoil Platinum and Valvoline Synpower, both offered at Wal-Mart in bulk jugs, would also work.

I would not pay $6.99 a qt for the MTC at O'Reily's. Too expensive when you can get the others listed for less and the Kendall for less which is almost the same stuff.

Advanced Auto parts stores are rare here in SW Missouri, THis is Oreilly country, (home office, company started here). Upon reading the postings, it seems that M1 and only a few meet the warranty requirements, I will run Motorcraft Ful-Syn, and a M1 filter.
Thanks
