So while I was outside in the nice, warm, sunny (45 degrees) replacing the muffler strap on my car which finally rusted and broke (new NAPA muffler strap made in canada btw) I decided to take a look at the new struts, which indeed turned out to be Monroe Sensa-tracs. Interestingly, from what I could see, I saw no "Made in X" Stamp on it. I think these are supposed to be Made in USA, but does anyone know for sure?

My sensa tracks were made in USA and it had stamped on the side of it. On the box said made in USA in big letters too.

Well they were installed at Sears before I owned the car, so I never got to see them. Where exactly ont hem do they say made in usa?

No idea, maybe the box?

How's the ride on the Sensa-Tracs? I heard Sensa-tracs turn any car into a old floaty Cadillac.

I love em. The ride is very smooth. Fantastic for a 13 year old cavalier with over 130k on the clock. And that's not the best part. The best part is that they acheive that AND they manage to let it have excellent turning characteristics. Little to no body roll, very controlled. These, with the Goodyear Assurance Tripletred 195/65/15 tires make for a truly excellent combination.

I have a set of the "coil-over" type on the front of my old floaty Cadillac, and they do a fine job of firming things up.

monroe's are made usually in the US or Canada. I've seen some Rancho's made in Mexico. They're a good shock/strut, but for me a bit to soft.

I had them on a Cherokee. Indeed, the ride was much more controlled, smooth and yet handling improved also. The downside was that they only lasted 50k miles on what was supposed to be a lifetime shock. I figure no shock is lifetime and very few people ever use the warranty is why it's offered. But, I used the warranty and got 4 new ones w/o hassle!

Not my '84 Celebrity. Front struts were close to the original ride but rears another story. It would be OK by me to remain as a Chevrolet. I learned what was that "higway-hop" with these shocks, harsh and intervenes with (othervise fine) steering. Had to remove them next weekend.

To this day nothing matches GM's orignals. Any idea where can I find GM shocks?
