Is there more Moly in SM Cheveron and Havoline then there is in the SL flavor? Reason I'm asking is I was looking at my last UOA with SL Chevron and the moly was 48.

I thought that both Chevron and Havoline had loads of moly in them based on some VOA's I thought I read

Coming up on a OIC in about 2k, wondering if I should finish off my SL Chevron and Havoline or dive into the SM stuff....

The SM version have more Moly than the SL version.

But if you don't like the low Moly level in the old GF3 SL Chevron/Havoline, box it up and send it to me (hint, hint)

Goose,

I've been running Chevron SL 10w30 in my little Buick after doing an oci with GTX, and an oci with All Climate before that. The CS is so much more smoother compared to the other two; and the engine revs quicker.

Now of course these are just my results with this particular engine using CS; other engines may run better with the aforementioned two oils, don't really know.

I might try Havoline sometime, but the blue Chevron bottle is so much more prettier.

How much moly is in SM Chevron?

Well, according to the BITOG VOA library (specifically this chart), Chevron Supreme 5W30 has:
221 ppm Mo and 73 ppm B

compared with:
360 and 54, respectively, with Havoline 5W30.

Thanks for the input guys...no way LT4...this may be the last Chevron I ever see in these parts!

Well I agree GRod... Chevron SL does make my little 4 banger run nice and smooth...I think I'll give the Havoline SM an run and see how it compares with all of that moly
