Yeah, but if you're in the 25% tax bracket, a $500 value is only worth $125. You probably would have gotten more just for the metal scrap value at a junkyard.
I am...which means its worth more in my own time to make a 5 minute phone call and have the car disappear instead of dealing with flakes from CL. Plus, I am helping out a local charity!
I wasn't referring to the flakes on Craigslist. I was referring to the local junkyards. It's one price if you drive it to them, another if they have to come pick it up.
Also I'm usually not that enthused about those charities. Lots of times, they just end up with small pennies on the dollar due to fund raising costs and administrative overhead. Those commercials on the radio/TV aren't free.
