Mazda diesel issues in Australia

I'd just suction off a bit myself, personally, and base OCI on oil condition. I thought they used super-thick oil in Aussie-land anyway. So what's a little fuel dilution

So much fuel dilution that the sump level rises to the X mark on the dipstick and requires a change at only 1700 km? Only in Bizarro Australia would that be 'normal operation of a modern diesel engine'. I hope this engine DOES NOT come over to the states.

This also underscores why AdBlue/DEF-type SCR exhaust treatment should be welcomed with open arms instead of post-injection. The new Passats with AdBlue are getting BETTER fuel economy than their lighter-weight Golf & Jetta counterparts and have a less complex exhaust system.

That's a lot of fuel dilution. I hope they fix it correctly instead of band-aiding it. Changing oil every 1500 miles is nuts!

I see what you did there.. HAHA

You would think that Mazda would have figured this out before selling a number of mommobiles to innocent buyers.
I wonder what role operating conditions play in this problem?
Are cars that mainly see city driving more prone to extreme fuel loading of the oil?
Mazda's pretending that this isn't a problem is either laughable or offensive, depending upon whether you own one of these beasts or your neighbor does.

I think it just dribbles up the dipstick towards the handle making it more difficult to check the fill level. This is why it's important to use a thick oil there: so you can check the level before you get a false high reading from oil dribbling up the stick too fast. This fuel dilution issue thins the oil making it look like there's too much oil in there. The whole problem can be fixed by substituting a quart of Lucas HDOS for a quart of oil.
