So, does anyone actually know WHAT Valvoline is using for seal conditioners in this stuff?

My last last change, I went with Valv Dex III, which ran fine until today. I developed a small axle seal leak on my 1989 Bonneville, which was promptly fixed fixed with a bottle of Trans-X.

I'd like to know what Valv is using for seal conditioners because for the NEXT change I think I'm just going to go with MaxLife. In fact I wonder if it would have stopped this in the first place?

Hello, Which Valvoline are you referring to?

Old DexIII in the white bottle/jug?
The slightly newer version in the blue bottle/jug?
The newest multi in the red bottle/jug?

Russian roulette is 1 in 6 (usually), not 50/50. I don't think seal conditioners are 50/50, either.

Sure bud.
I've never heard of this before.

Blue Jug.

So, so far no answer to my question, just a debate about the merits or nor merits of seal conditioners. Neat

All formulated lubricants have seal conditioners.

The seal conditioners are contained in the PI package.

The manf. oils have to pass certain ASTM seal tests.

ASTM Test Methods D412, D471, D2240, and others are used to test percentage of seal swell, durometer, etc.
